Who's your favourite LOTR character?

Galadriel. If nothing else, just for the swan boats (there's a whole issue with swan-shaped boats in The Silimarilion). That, and she's certainly not a woman to simply let the men-folk do the fighting. And as someone who ranked "skill with a blade" as one of the top things I looked for in a woman to marry, this is a good thing as far as I'm concerned. :D

After that, Aragorn in the books. I don't like how the movies made the character doubt himself because a guy 3,000 years ago kept Sauron's ring.

In terms of "Person I'd like to live next door to in real life" Sam Gamgee.
In terms of a character in a book, I've always found Bombadil interesting. He seems to have sneaked in, from an earlier book that never quite got written.

That is beyond bizarre, considering how much better the book is.
I am quite aware that you consider your opinions on such matters to be incontrovertible facts, so I will respect Orphia's request and restrict my self to saying...I respect your opinion.

Also, Mrs. D'rok's reaction to Ned's fate was priceless. She had no idea it was coming.

lol, sorry, didn't mean to derail. I'll send a PM.

Book: Legolas, followed by Sam
Movies (Jackson ones): Aragorn
Movie (Bakshi): the Nazgûls

Sauron.

He would have gotten away with it, if it wasn't for those darn kids Hobbits!

Gollum. He is repulsive and sympathetic. A character of almost pure evil without whom the whole mission would have failed.

I wouldn't want to hang out with him, but as a character he is brilliant.

For likability I'd go with either Merry or Pippin; depending on if I was in the mood to sit around chatting about Hobbit History, or to get drunk and sing Hobbit drinking songs...

Rosie Cotton. So hot, despite those big hairy feet.

Putting mere lust aside, Eowyn.

Galadriel, in the trilogy, for her staying power.
In the film, for that last look as she boards the ship in the Grey Havens.
