Who's *planning* to attend TAM 7?

FWIW, I think the pain-in-the-assness of a visa application is reciprocated if an American wants to visit Australia. They just want to make sure you actually plan to leave again.

I don't know why our country doesn't want Australians to visit -- just because you're all the great-great-grandchildren of thieves and murderers -- just like I don't understand why Australia would have a problem having a bunch of Americans with our "live free or die!" attitudes taking over all the businesses and pushing the native inhabitants off into small pockets of uninhabitable land.

Don't feel too bad. It's not just Americans that we do that to. Part of it is our quarantine. I can take a packet of Tim Tams to America, but you can't bring a packet of graham crackers here.

I have to say that since I'm staying at HCMom's place for the week before TAM, she's going to get first crack at the Tim Tams. There might not be many left for Hokulele unless I ferret some away where you HCMom can't find them...

Sounds like you should skip packing clothing and other unnecessaries -- you can buy 'em when you get there -- and just pack Tim Tams.

ETA: After research, I'd like a package of Tim Tam Dark and Choc Orange, please...

Tim Tams, by damn!

I haven't the slightest idea what Tim Tams are, except a food item, but that "dark chocolate and orange" is an instant selling point for anything except possibly pet food.

Please?! I'll reciprocate with some Fran's truffles! :D

That's actually a reasonable suggestion. And that's coming from someone who has no idea what "Tim Tams" are.

In all of my recent trips to the US, I've gone clothes shopping, as the selection is just so much better than what I get at home, and the prices are usually better too. Last trip to Vegas, I ended up shipping two new pairs of shoes and a bunch of socks home, as I simply can't find shoes and socks to fit me in Canada.

Seriously, give it some thought!

I dunno....with our dollar in the tank this year. Is it really that much cheaper?

Dark Chocolate Tim Tams?!? Chocolate Orange Tim Tams!?!

Sorry, Hokulele, maybe you can have some some other time...

If you were an unskilled worker from Mexico, you could run across the California border, find work at half an American's salary for the same job, pay someone to bring your family over, get free medical care and free education for your family, have children here who automatically become U.S. citizens because they're born here, and even get money from the fed and the state of California (which frees up more of the money you're making from work to send back to Mexico), while you stay as long as you like . . . all without a Visa. Guess you just don't live close enough.

I'm still planning to attend TAM7. Not sure if that will scare anyone away. But, it is still a fact y'all are going to have to deal with.

Oh, and those Tim Tams sound nifty. What would it take to have someone bring me one or two, just to sample?... err.... please?
