Who's going to TAM4?

CFLarsen said:
I'm not particularly interested in helping specific groups of people to TAM, because I don't think that way. I think in the lines of helping people - period - to TAM. Otherwise, I wouldn't have agreed to organize the European part of the donations for TAM attendance.

Those donations are not given to specific groups, but to those who come first.

There's a difference between joking and sniping. We joke because we care. We snipe if we want to be mean.

And if I wanted to be mean, you would not even think I was joking.

Well, thank you for clarifying and sorry if it insulted you. I'm just really bored of seeing the 'Renata is bossy' posts and it's been over a year of seeing them. She had NO idea who I was when I went to TAM and I could have been a sneaky troll who lied from the start - and I ended up in the chocolate challenge, in the PJ party and having a great time thanks to people like her who take the time to be inclusive.

And I won't make an appreciation thread because I think she's beyond even that tiny gesture towards her generosity. I'd just like to see a few more 'I look forward to's' rather than the 'sheesh, didn't that special event demonstrate X about a person' when that event probably wouldn't be there because of X... and then it'd be whine whine whine, TAM 3 was so much better, blah blah.... :(

You´re the lucky one. She had no idea who I was at TAM2, either - and I ended up getting zapped by her about a dozen times... :)

Oh what the hell - I enjoyed it anyway. Renata rocks!

ETA: some weeks ago, I was talking to Blackpriester about the TAMs. When I told him I had taken photos at TAM3, his first question was "do you have picture of Renata?" Go figure...

I wasn't insulted - just a bit put off at the aggressive tone.

She is....effective, that's for sure. She gets things done. :)

Yeah, and some people even lent you a recharger for your camera battery, and chatted amiably with you behind the book tables, despite you being from the Danish colonies! Amazing, isn't it? ;)

Well, you have to admit, it will take some effort to top TAM3...

You're after SixSixSix, don't think I'm fooled by you! All this 'colonisation' stuff is just your sneaky way of getting into my good graces... and then you're closer to HIM! He's mine, I tell you! MINE! Get your own foreigner!!!

OK, as of 5 August, the count is (arranged from earliest to latest posting)

18. TJ Stough (newbie)

Tam 3 we had around 50 posters, so get to work, people, getting folks there!! Lots of new faces this year, that is nice, not the same old boring Scrutinizers and Larsens and Renatas......:hit:

Actually, I'm bringing my wife, Kim, with me too. At first she wasn't interested in coming along. She's not really a skeptic per se, but we're helping that along every day!

She's Catholic, so at least Hal will have someone to talk to.

You're right, Hal, you don't know me. In fact, I only know you from TAM dvds and JREF posts. I don't know why I find picking on you to be so irresistible, it just is.

If you want to know what I look like so that you can torture me continuously at TAM, look at the photos page of my band website http://www.lickinlolli.com. I'm the goofy looking bald guy on the drums.

Hi!

Just wanted to say that my girlfriend and I are coming to TAM4. She´s 25 years old and I am 31. We´re from the southern part of Norway and have never been to USA before...

I might also get a friend of mine to join us, but he hasn´t decided yet.

I´ve been a Randi-fan for many years, and am a member of both CSICOP and the Norwegian SKEPSIS. I just received my ********-DVDs from Amazon.com, and we´re having a blast watching it! :-)

We´re really looking forward to TAM4!

ok, I guess everyone needs a hobby. I'll make sure to stay out of your way, and you can do the same, and we'll both be content.

The truth is Hal, I'm really looking forward to meeting you. I love your wit, your perspective, and I'm sure we could have some great conversations.

I'll stop picking on you now.

TJ, you have to remember, Hal is an Officer and a Gentleman in the United States Air Force.

If Hal has not filed AF Form 2673-1 (Humor, Sense of, Issue) with the Supply Officer in triplicate, not to mention a 10 page Statement of Justification and Authorization for a Sense of Humor with the Procurement Office, it is possible he missed your attempt at humor and sly banter.....

...and yes, Colonel Hal, this is humor and sly banter--or at least what passes as such from a DoD civil-servant (24 years).
:D ;) :D ;)

Another note, T.J. smilies are your friends....:p

More fresh meat!

New person here, although a long-time Randi fan & part-time lurker to this site.

We're headed to TAM4, again first time. Looking forward to it. Not a science geek type myself, I know no physics jokes & my brain reverts immediately to Muppet sing-song at the word "phenomenon."

Just wanted to stick a head in & say "hi."

Thanks Hutch, your point is well taken. I suppose that more can be read into the words without the use of smilies! :) :p

Hal, as a former Navy man, my respect for the military (any branch) is without question. I served throughout Desert Sheild and Desert Storm, though only as an enlisted man.

I really did mean no offense by picking on you! :bricks:

To quote Hal from the TAM2 DVDs...

"I´m a finger-on-the-button nuke guy, so DON´T MESS WITH ME."

Hi CiViX!, Hi spiteme!

I'm looking forward to meeting you at TAM4, and I'm sure every other forum member attendee is as well.

Be aware of the "extracurricular activity schedule" that will be organized this time by Renata :D. Don't hesitate to introduce yourselves to the group.

the room is booked, the registration is paid for...I will be there-my first TAM--with my brother-a newbie

Decisions, decisions....

I'd like to attend TAM4, but that might prevent me from spending the summer in South Dakota.

Indeed. Choosing between Las Vegas and South Dakota... where´s the problem?

Ordinarily, I would choose Vegas; but some friends invited me to spend next summer with them in South Dakota. It'll be a great vacation from the 100-degree Texas summer and I'll get to see things I can't find at home, like hills and mountains and non-mesquite forests. Unfortunately, my hosts are vegetarians. The only meat in the log cabin will be the dogs' treats. I wonder if I can live on beef jerky for three months.
