Who's going to TAM3??

What I want to know is, will there be trading cards again this year (collect them all, while supplies last!)? And poseable skepchick action figures?

Cards yes, action figures no. Especially if they come supplied with razors...................

Razors sold separately. Not intended for children under 3 years of age. Small parts may present choking hazard. Shaveable Combat Wombat (tm) also sold separately--quantities strictly limited. Not available in Virginia, West Virginia, or Alaska. Overseas orders will be assessed an additional 25% handling fee. Allow 3-4 months for delivery. Not responsible for accidental injury or death which might occur through normal usage of poseable Skepchick action figures.

Not to worry, tim - the Whippet will beat back those (insert adjective here) shavers! (I've been taking vitamins ;) )

I had a great time last year on Sunday afternoon walking around the strip with Renata, Luciana, Stimpy & Doubt. And as I peruse the list, I see no Stimpy and no Doubt. Does this mean I have two hot Skepchicks all to myself? :wow2:

Maybe, maybe not.

I am in the process of buying a condo. Don’t know yet if I can really afford the trip this year. Even if I can, I should really be buying new furniture.

I plan to decide this weekend.

It´s finally official. I faxed my registration and paid today. The flight is also almost set.

I´ll arrive on the afternoon of the 12th and leave on the morning of the 17th.

I'll look forward to meeting you!

And it could, at most, take 365 (well, 366 if you include February, 29th) people before two of them HAVE to have the same birthday...
Are you sure? I really thought it would take thousands, or even millions, of people to have a common birthday.

Cool. Congrats!

I didn't expect Stimpy to make it again, coming all the way from Germany.

Well, there are only 365-366 days per year, so you can have only 365-366 people before two of them would have to share a birthday.

Look at the persons one after the other. (And disregard February the 29th for this example)

Person #1 has a 100% chance of not sharing a birthday with anyone else, since we haven´t looked at any other birthdays yet.

Person #2 has a 364 out of 365 (ca. 99.72%) chance of not sharing a birthday with person #1 - 365 days in the year, 1 of which is already "taken", leaving 364 "free".

Person #3 has a 363 out of 365 (ca. 99.45%) chance of not sharing a birthday with either person #1 or #2 - 365 days, 2 taken, 363 free.

*snip 361 other persons*

Person #365 has a 1 out of 365 (ca. 0.27%) chance of not sharing a birthday with any person among #1 through #364 - 365 days, 364 of which are taken, leaving 1 free.

Person #366 has NO chance of not sharing a birthday with any of the persons #1 through #365, since all birthdays are already taken.

I'm not sure, but I think Paul was counting the year also, so that July 1, 1980 and July 1, 1981 are two separate birthdays.

...but even with just month/day birthdays, don't you need
367 people to be sure (since there are 366 month/day possibilties?)...

I guess that could be true in a leap year. You could have 366 people with different birthdays. Who wants to work out the chances against that happening...............:D :D :D

Wait a minute....you could have a group of 366 people and still have "open dates" if more than 2 people share the same date, and I would think in a group that size, the chances are great that more than 3 people will have birthdays on the same date as 3 others. You could easily have 3 or 4 people all having birthdays on the same date. Or did I jump into this conversation without reading all the previous posts?

I guess I should book a flight and get a room.

Roommmate.
Now Advertising for a roommate.

Hello all, mainly a lurker here, but I will be at TAM.

I posted in the roommate looking thread. I'm going to be there a couple of days before, but I'm leaving Sunday. I would be happy to share the room, even if it's not for all of TAM.

I haven't made in reservation yet, but my plans is Tuesday-Sunday.

It´s possible that everybody at such a large meeting has the same birthday, though not likely.

That´s the nice thing about statistics: there is very little they actually say "no" to. ;)

But as my Ukrainian co-student said: there are three kinds of lies
- those that you tell because you want someone to believe them
- those that you tell although you know nobody will believe them
- statistics

:)

Okay,

I am going. Just phoned it into Linda less than an hour ago. Since this was the last day for early registration, she is busier than a Florida election official right now. She also remembered me from last year even though I don’t think I said more than a dozen words to here the whole meeting.

This does mean that the new couch I was going to buy for my condo will magically turn into a used Futon. I can live with that.

Besides, somebody has to chaperon Scrut.

Now lets see how long I can procrastinate on the hotel room.

Whoa, deja vu.

Seriously, I did call Linda today to confirm that I will be at TAM3.

It will be good to meet you, Brown!
