Who will Trump fire first?

Agreed 1000% but no doubt both Spicer and Conway could have handled their job better.
One theory is that they are playing to Trump as much as to reporters, saying things they think will please Trump. I find it hard to belive that Donald, crass as he is, would think that having an official spokesman plug his daughter's product like that was a good idea. But Conway though it was a great way to get into his good graces.....

Really? This is a guy who leapt to his twitter account to lambast Nordstrom personally ... as POTUS.

Why should he find a little product placement from his mouthpiece a problem?

Conway is definitely for the chop, it's just a question of time: her usefulness depends on her visibility, on her access to TV shows to spin her Boss's messages.
But fewer and fewer hosts will invite her, which takes away her platform and therefore her possible impact.
Trump needs someone fresher who still has some credibility to lose.

How could anyone who takes the job as Trump's spokescretin every have any credibility at all to begin with?

They don't have anywhere to start from. Nothing to work with.

Simply accepting the position would be enough to erase any credibility they might have had beforehand.

Idon't think you can say Conway is definitely going to get fired. There appears to be at least a 3-way struggle for access to Trump - generally people loyal to Conway, Priebus and Pence. One of them is going to push another faction out, but it's really difficult to see who has the upper hand.

Conway appears best able to grasp Trump's style and play for an audience of one, but that frequently makes her look like an idiot on TV. Priebus is never going to be able to predict what Trump will want on any given day, but he's the most familiar with how to run a federal government. Pence is easily the most level-headed, but that makes him boring to Trump. Technically, Pence can't be "fired," but he can be frozen out or jusk wander away.

If I were to put money on it, I'd say Priebus is probably closer to quitting than any of them. Conway may become a liability if the press ever actually holds her to her own statements.

My official guess: Priebus resigns, saying that he only ever intended to do the job temporarily while he found Trump the best possible replacement or some such nonsense.

In the US, it doesn't really matter apart from eligibility for unemployment benefits; even then, resigning or being fired for cause may only result in a longer waiting period before unemployment insurance starts paying out.

Yeah, in the US it's 50 different sets of rules for unemployment eligibility. In Massachusetts if you are fired for poor performance you get unemployment. However if you're fired for misconduct or breaking company rules you usually aren't eligible.

SOP for Trump. How to deal with criticism? Shoot the messenger.
Sorry, but this dismissal sounds justified. The meeting described is characterized as private but obviously it wasn't since word got out. Any boss would be justified firing someone s/he finds out is talking crap out of school about the way their organization is run...even if the content reveals absolute truth about gross incompetence.

I am beginning to wonder if Trump is bringing in Jared Kushner just to be able to fire him later. Preparing a scapegoat to heap all the administration's sins on them and later drive him into the wilderness. I don't think that sons-in-law are immune to the need of Trump to blame others, and Jared is right there and available. If you are reading this, Jared, don't go into that dark house! There is a serial killer there!

Also- what is it in general with Trump and his appointment of (IMO) lackluster relatives, personal friends, or out-right wackos to absolutely crucial positions in government? Of all the extra-oridinarily talented and experienced people to choose, at least some of whom have similar political views as Trump, these are the only people he trusts? Or are they the only people stupid enough to sign on board and to do what he tells them?

So far there hasn't been a great deal of evidence that he has even managed that.

Agreed and when I wrote my post I was also thinking of Bannon as an exception. Indeed, as the reverse- a Svengoli who tells Trump what to do.

Perhaps even more broadly I should have said that Trump is looking for people who don't talk back to him when he does bother to tell them something. Talk back by saying stuff like "That's stupid and dangerous" when Trump becomes enamored of a half-assed idea at 2 AM. An expert in foreign policy might do this. A son-in-law- maybe not.

Although Trump doesn't officially employ him and so can't fire him, it looks as if Devin Nunes's interactions with Trump will be getting Nunes into considerable hot water.

Trump! Once you get to know him you will end up far worse off than before you knew him! No matter who you are.
