Who started both World Wars?

...stuff...

Just to quote myself, in case you missed it:

Which is why he occupied the Czech Republic...that well known centre of German nationhood.

So, as asked of 911, after March 1939 why should anyone trust a word Hitler said?

"A struggle between Poland and Germany is inevitable. We must prepare ourselves for it
systematically. Our goal is a new Grunewald, however, this time a Grunewald in the suburbs of Berlin.
That is to say, the defeat of Germany must be produced by Polish troops in the center of the
territory in order to strike Germany to the heart. Our ideal is a Poland with the Oder and the
Neisse as a border in the West. Prussia must be reconquered for Poland and indeed, Prussia as far
as the Spree. In a war with Germany there will be no prisoners and there will be room neither for
human feelings nor cultural sentiments. The world will tremble before the German-Polish War.
We must evoke in our soldiers a superhuman mood of sacrifice and a spirit of merciless revenge
and cruelty."
"Poland wants war with Germany and Germany will not be able to avoid it even if she wants to."
- Marshall Rydz-Smigly

.
And *this* is a citation?

When was this said, and to what audience? Which historians have mentioned this quote? None? Then from where did it come?

Finally, I'll give you the opportunity to retract this forgery before I take you to school on it. Failure to actually look into the matter and acknowledge the error makes it willful, and therefore a lie.

Fascinating the only reference I can find to this story comes from Walsh's book - and of Walsh? He makes Clayton Moore look reasonably smart

Trust me, MG -- it gets even better.

Those who know, shhh! I wanna toy with this one a while first.

Something to read

Beck assured American Ambassador Biddle shortly before midnight on August 25, 1939, that war between Germany and Poland was inevitable. He claimed that Poland had an adequate legal basis for a declaration of war against Germany, in case the Germans failed to take the initiative against Poland within the next few days. Beck denied that there was any truth in the Bielitz massacre, which had been confirmed by neutral sources. He claimed instead that a Polish soldier had been killed by the Germans on August 16, 1939, and that the Germans had proceeded to cut open the stomach of the corpse and to conceal in it the skull of a baby. This story was widely repeated by Polish spokesmen in the days and years which followed, although no attempt was ever made to document the incident. They failed to realize that this type of savagery was based upon certain primitive voodoo-like superstitions in Eastern Europe which were not shared by the Germans. It would have been an unique historical event had modern Poland elected to base a declaration of war on this fantastic charge. American Ambassador Biddle was much impressed by the aggressive attitude of Beck. He predicted to President Roosevelt that Poland would present a series of ultimata to Germany if Hitler backed down in the Danzig dispute.

For the rest:

Edited to comply with Rule 4. Do not copy and paste lengthy tracts of text available elsewhere. Instead, just post a short quote and a link to the other source.

Sorry, in my first postings I had received the message that only after a certain number of contributions it will be possible to post links. I don't know if it has already disappeared. If yes: no problem with your request.

I too am curious. I suspect it may have to do with the attribution of the Rydz-Smigly quote to the Daily Mail of August 6th, 1939 . . . .

I suspect you're right even though I have no access to said issue of the Daily Mail. However this quote as referenced here is almost as good:

"Poland wants war with Germany and Germany will not be able to avoid it even if she wants to." (Polish Marshal Rydz-Smigly as reported in the Daily Mail, August 6th, 1939)

The Daily Mail could be forgiven for printing this bit of news as in 1939, they didn't necessarily know what story (lie) the government would decide to have as the official version. At least these days, they telegraph the official version well in advance such as the NATO "humanitarian mission" that's destroying Libya to make it safe for Libyan civilians! The press quickly pick up the cue and ignore anything that doesn't fit.

Or possibly they could be forgiven because Rothermere was somewhat chummy with Adolf. Reportedly saying, upon the declaration of war on the 3rd September, "Ah.....bugger".

The point is that the Daily Mail couldn't have published this story on August 6th 1939 even if it had wanted to. August 6th was a Sunday and the Mail wasn't published on a Sunday. It's a pretty basic mistake when making up a quote really.

One word to "dafydd," "Corsair" & Co: Quit insulting other contributors. I don't see such a difference in your intellectual niveaus which could justify such an arrogance.

Thanks

It's not about being an intellectual,it;s about not being a Hitler hugging Nazi. Do you admire Hitler and do you think that he didn't start WWII?

At least Goebbels got the dates right when he made things up.

Yeah, they just don't make Nazis like they used to.

Although, it is kind of impressive: taking the biggest bunch of losers of the 20th Century, and making them into even bigger losers.

The wait was worth it! THANK YOU!

Yes, Threads like this remind 99.99 percent of people who drop in here what Hitler and his bunch of racists scumbags did. The remainder of the 100 percent are presumably brain dead or lobotomy patients

Predicting one thousand years of the Turd Reich and only making it to twelve is losing big time. It takes a special sort of stupidity to do that.
