I think George Clooney needs to step up and run for President.

Americans are in thrall with the cult of personality (hence Trump), so the Democrats need someone really famous.

Do you agree, or do you have a better suggestion? Just kicking off the discussion Dems really need to have early, unlike last time.

Honestly, at this point, I'd say maybe Hakeem Jeffries.

Dems have no real leader, not gonna be Schumer. Right now they're only treading water.

Well if we're going for popularity, Timothee Chalamet in 2028!

Heard today that Trump Jr is thinking about a run. Think I'd rather have Chalamet. I know he's not 36 yet (I think) so may be constitutionally ineligible, but there may be ways around that.

Yeah, but someone famous AND educated on politics like Clooney would appeal to both the informed voters and the uninformed voters.

I wouldn't like going into the Idiocracy realm with electing celebrities because of Hollywood charisma.

Somebody who know politics. Not that old and not too young.

Weirdly, I can kinda see Mayor Pette running. Dude is smart and savvy.

Gavin Newsom will certainly be running and Pete Buttigieg presumably still has good contacts from his 2016 run. Walz has made some noises about considering a run and certainly the former VP nominee has historically been considered a contender. Beyond that I'd look at the governors who are Democrats. AOC certainly would get some buzz, and she is now old enough to run, especially if Bernie doesn't claim the far-left lane.

Clooney has political clout. He's friends with Kier Starmer, for a start.
And his dad was a newsman. So there are three thing going for him if you count being a famous actor.

Actors have never been able reach the presidency, much less a governorship. I will always stand by that and cannot be proven wrong.

Maybe if Clooney had ever held any sort of political office. Let's start with city council.
