Who should run for the Dems?

They don't need to new legislation: they just need to take back a lot of the power they have ceded over the years to the POTUS.
And frankly, the Dems are to blame too for this mess. They have ceded powers to the POTUS when he was a Demoracti they never should have ceded.
And I very skeprical that this will go beyound rhetoric. Each party screams about the abuse of power by the POTUS when they are in opposition, but clam up when one of their guys is in power.
And a major reason for this ceding of power is simple: Cowardice. Congress Critters don't like to take stands on hard issues, easier to pass the buck to the white house.
No. You cannot blame democrats for MAGA voters giving the GOP threee branches and unlimited power to the current president. We did not do this. You can blame us for not communicating to MAGA, but I doubt they would ever listen. You cannot blame us for increasing Trump wealth either.

You don't understand...the blame is that the Dems are not fielding conservative lite folk like Bloomberg, because that is after all, the "American Way" (TM)

Walz would be great: the no.1 job of the next President with a democratic bone in their body needs to be to divest as many powers as possible from the Presidency: the best way to prevent an autocratic takeover is to distribute power widely.
We need someone who isn't threatening and who doesn't seem to have some shady backers or hidden agenda.

But how to stop the legislative branch from once again giving away its power to another president they favor? Trump's seized powers he shouldn't have, but the legistlative not only let him but actively helped. And the judicial, of course, lets it occur more often than not. Even if we get the ideal president next time there's nothing stopping an exact repeat for the next one after that, and that next one will be worse because they'll have learned from the past and will claw back more power, faster, and know which roadblocks to destroy.

Absolutely that, and blaming the SCOTUS of course. By letting the POTUS do what is actually their job, they force the SCOTUS to weigh on a bunch things they really shouldn't need to. GOP is obviously more at fault now and more hypocritical on the matter but when it was Biden, you've got to blame the dems more than the GOP. But if they do they are all RINOs or DINOs.

There are ways, like taking money out of politics and increasing the size of the judiciary in total, and the SC in particular.
Giving Statehood to DC and the other territories with voting representation would also complicate a future takeover.

But it is a feature of a Democracy that it can abolish itself legally - we just have to fight against that.

Trump is giving so much publicity to "low IQ" Jasmine Crockett, that I think she will be a big name for 2028. Run her fur anything and everything. Especially as they are gerrymandering her district away.

Good name too.

Don't worry, the Republicans will let you guys know who the best candidate would be.
Seems to me, the Democrats could use the assist.

Too bad Mamdani is busy running for mayor of New York.

What about Oregon Governor Tina Kotek? Progressive credentials, executive experience, ticks a diversity box, just the right amount of corruption. What's not to like?

I bet the repugs might like her...can't ruffle their frail sensitive feathers right? And frankly, I don't think what you might consider to be progressive would be so in any sane world where common sense matters. Does she have a cackle that might offend you?

Honestly I've never heard her speak. She did set up her wife as an influence-peddler on the taxpayer's dime, but that's the worst thing I know about her. Other than her politics, of course. As for whether or not she's progressive enough, you'll have to judge for yourself. I tend to think a more moderate Democrat would have a better chance getting votes, but she's bound to be seen as an extreme leftist by many, just because she's from Oregon.

This all reminds me of a recent thing I saw on Reddit. The question was posed, what would you do if you were in charge of Disney. On the Disney fan subreddit, the fans all gushed about their dream Disney movie, or dream Disney casting choice. Things like that. On the Disney "hater" sub, the "haters" were going all in on changes to the business that would make it more profitable.
