Okay. The thread is about Cain and "he" is not specific. "Queer"? Like most behaviors, there's a considerable degree of heredity and volition. In policy discussions, the roles that people assign to volition and heredity depend on what they want to do. That is, if someone feels threatened by a eugenic proposal, s/he will call sexual orientation a choice. If someone feels threatened by legal sanction, s/he may call orientation hereditary.
As to poverty, Cain has a point: people can work themselves out of poverty and the attitude that one's position is fated becomes a self-fulfilling hypothesis.Me, too. I want to see the federal government replace personal and corporate income taxes with a flat sales tax. No exceptions. Hawaii gets more revenue from its general excise tax than from corporate and personal income taxes.
