Moderated What's wrong with porn?

Porn is demeaning, since it reduces people to their lowest common instincts and desires, both in what it shows and in what it expects of the viewer. It is demeaning for the same reason watching someone wolf down five hamburgers in a row, or drink down a bottle of vodka and pass out, or is demeaning both to the viewer and the guy who does it.

This doesn't mean sex, food, or drink are bad in themselves. But porn is the abuse of sex.

This is not the same as

Oh. So would that mean boxing is an abuse of aggression?

Nothing. Well, honestly modern porn isn't usually all that interesting - they did it better in the late 70s/late 80s era.
I much prefer unpaid amateur stuff. Far more likely that the participants actually enjoyed themselves.

While I like sex as much as anyone else I don't care for porn because some of the girls are barely legal. An 18 year old looks like a kid to me. Some of the things they do are harmful and while I'm not going to go into it it looks to me like the girls have more of a bad time than a good time. Their smiles look fake to me.
You could say the same about a lot of the people who work at McDonald's.

Two shortcomings in video porn:

1. It's a bit of self torture, watching someone do what you'd rather be doing.
2. Its focus on the mechanics rather than the interpersonal dynamic.

Except that what if it's like the guy who wolfs down one hamburger and follows it off with a couple of beers?

You talk of porn as though it must be a demeaning addiction for someone to like it at all. I don't follow your reasoning, mainly because you haven't posted any.

I think these are both issues that can be questioned. I am sure people like porn that involves acts that they would not want to perform in real life. In this it is an extension of fantasies. Just because someone fantisises about an act does not mean that they want to perform that act, even if that act could be performed with out any ethical or practical problems.

As for 2, well that is what the market wants.

I might add that I'm posting to this thread while writing a porno story to give to my girlfriend....

As for 2, that true of mainstream porn. There's a lot more works out there that is actually trying to be more artistic and involve real plots.

The new thing now is parady (pornady?) old famous sixties sitcoms including Brady Bunch, Bewitched, I Dream of Jeanie and The Partridge Family. They go for the more humorous side. And actually, a couple of them are dead on....errr...except for the sex part of course.

She's a publisher or you just running the script by her - see if she wants the part?!
