I can get 7:1 odds that the next president will be impeached in the first 100 days.
I am not going to take it. If it were near 20:1, I might risk a fiver.

Good point.

There are probably 66 Dems and Reps in the Senate willing to override a President Trump veto shut down the govt. and default on our debt.

The Default is the killer. Shutdowns we have had before, but not a default.

The thing we just don't know what Trump would do. I keep on hearing there is a more reasonable side of Trump.and that right now he is a salesman selling Trump, and will say and do anything to sell the product, and once in office might sober up. Problem is that one of the maxims of business is that you do not want to put a salesman in charge of a company, they are more interested in image then reality...bad for a CEO.

Salesmen never stop selling. Once in office, it would still be all about Trump. Everything will be based on what decision will make him look good, not what decision is good for the country.

Iran will send out another one of those pissant boats to harass the Navy. Donald will respond with Tomahawk missiles and B2 bombers.

God forbid he finds out the latest secret weapon. He'll be bragging about it on Twitter within hours.

sadly Nuke the **** out of the planet isn't on the list, hopefully if he gets in it won't be on his either, but he wants to be unpredictable when it comes to using them, so who knows.

He ran a successful real estate empire.

There seems to be a certain amount of disagreement on that point.

For varying definitions of "success"

Just for starters this is a man who ignored the advice of his experts and managed to lose money on casinos.

Three
of 'em.

Plus, once it was explained to him that defaulting would crash the US economy and having that happen would mean the name Trump would be synonymous with short-sighted loser for 100 years, he would back off.

<snip>

Yeah. He has a track record of listening to people who are more knowledgeable on something than he is.

Even when his reputation is at stake.

Oh. Wait.

His own children are trying to separate his name from the properties they handle. I guess that's because he listened to the people who were trying to keep him from damaging the name Trump.

And as of today apparently inside FBI slime-ridden feces eating ******** have been found working to get Trumpf elected. Hope they are found and fired by Justice fast!!!!!!!!!

I'd expect frequent use of executive orders. Lots of frustration with a Congress that refuses to accede to his every whim. Heavier use of vetoes than we usually see in recent presidents. More threats of lawsuits and actual lawsuits than the norm.

Ending with a congress controlled by his own party impeaching him. You KNOW he is going to issue a E.O. that is a clear violation of the Constituion. That will give the congress the Grounds they need.

I predict Trump (if he wins) he will be impeached and convicted within a year, with the blessing of the Republicans. Then they can have president Pence, the real Republican.

In fact, I would argue that his unseemly behaviour will be worse if he wins. All the experts told him to use data, have a ground game, and temper his words. If he won by ignoring their advice, his ego would be unstoppably large. He really would believe that he is the smartest man in the room

Wouldn't his thought be justified? After all, he won and his advisors that wanted him to do it differently were wrong.

Sorta like Lee won at Gettysburg,... for a while. It'll turn out he was right if he wins the GE. Second place means "loser" in a two-way race.

Would London be nuked?
As I understand it, nuclear use orders operate under a two man rule. Trump would need his order confirmed by a second person - ordinarily the Secretary of Defence.

So it depends on whether Trump's secretary of Defence is as loony as he is. Note, however, the the SecDef's legally defined purpose is to act as confirmation that the President ordered the strike; he is legally required to confirm this if it is true. It is NOT his role to act as a check on the President's power to launch nukes, and a SecDef who refused to confirm an order to nuke London because he didn't agree with it is breaking the law.

Trump could also demand his resignation, and then it would fall to his deputy to confirm the order. He could keep going like this until he found somebody who was willing.

So in answer to your question : yes. If President Trump wanted to nuke London, then London would be nuked.

And then Washington DC would be nuked.

And so on.

The the New York Times article is informative.

This portrayal has become such an issue in the campaign that President Obama was asked about it at a news conference on Thursday, where he echoed Mrs. Clinton’s concerns. Her charge raises a question: Is there any check on a president’s power to launch nuclear arms that could destroy entire cities or nations?

The short answer is no, though history suggests that in practice, there may be ways to slow down or even derail the decision-making process. No one disputes, however, that the president has an awesome authority.

[...]

“There’s no veto once the president has ordered a strike,” said Franklin C. Miller, a nuclear specialist who held White House and Defense Department posts for 31 years before leaving government service in 2005. “The president and only the president has the authority to order the use of nuclear weapons.”

Washington keeps details of the nuclear chain of command and its workings secret. The spokesman for the National Security Council, Ned Price, refused to say whether any other member of the chain of command could stop a presidential order to use nuclear weapons.

That said, the President's power has been usurped extralegally twice in the Nixon administration. (Details in the same article.)
