Oh, I agree he will act like a three-year-old but I don't think it will be the kind of three-year-old that easily caves. This is a guy that carries grudges for years. And I hardly think intelligent people with power will cow him. He has thrown a few tantrums on the campaign trail, I hardly think that will stop because he is dealing with competitant, knowledgeable people who understand the problems with Trump's solutions.

In fact, I would argue that his unseemly behaviour will be worse if he wins. All the experts told him to use data, have a ground game, and temper his words. If he won by ignoring their advice, his ego would be unstoppably large. He really would believe that he is the smartest man in the room

THis is why I thing people who are voting for him out of hatred for Hilary and have the assumption "Oh, the GOP leaders can control him" are making a huge mistake.

This raises several more questions. Who are the persons he would chose as his personal advisors and who are the persons who would be appointed to the main responsabilities in a Trump administration ?

And then who are the persons among them he would trust enough to follow their opinions when it matters ? He is so infatuated that he could decide alone without taking any advice into account, except for advices which confirm his own opinion.

Trump refuses to fund the govt. or extend the national debt, unless Congress approves his entire budget.

Congress refuses, the USA defaults on the debt, and the government shuts down.

Option 1.Chaos ensues, Donald declared Martial Law,and the US Is no longer a Democracy.
Option B. Both parties leaders in congress negotiate a deal, and get a two thirds majority to pass it over Donald's veto.

Good point.

There are probably 66 Dems and Reps in the Senate willing to override a President Trump veto shut down the govt. and default on our debt.

I think people are taking what he can get away with slightly too far.

I have used this as example before, but no one answered.

Trump wakes up and decides to nuke London and orders it

Would London be nuked?

If he is elected I expect Mount Rushmore to count one more figure very soon...

Like Teh Donald would share a mountain with 4 losers . . .

"I prefer presidents who don't let themselves get shot. And don't even get me started on those others. Seriously, Theodore Roosevelt? What did he do, really? Ran up a hill? Ran up a hill? I've run up bigger hills than he ever did. The biggest hills. And you don't hear me-"

(I'll stop now)

Here's a poll, in the interest of fairness and balance.

Osculate rectums with impunity and relish (pickle relish most likely)!!!!!!!

And orally entertain penile appendages in quantitude quite assuredly. Probably his kids to start.

After all, as American Aristocrats, there are very low expectations for them!!!!!!

But no one in the last several posts mentioned nukes. How did we get from making poor choices, shutting down the government, and defaulting on Treasury instruments to nuking London?

And just to make sure you understand the shutting down the government, it has happened before, so it is not unthinkable. On the other hand, I think he would not really get away with the defaulting on stuff. Just because he was ignorant enough to inquire about it does not mean he is stupid enough to try to do it.

Sorry. Good point

It was a bit of an extreme example.

I'm just saying I think if he tried to do something way too extreme, that ignore him.

What has he done to lead you to the conclusion that he's not stupid enough?

Seems to me that the evidence goes overwhelmingly the other way.

He ran a successful real estate empire.
And if he is in office the he will have run a successful presidential campaign.
One needs a certain amount of intelligence to do those things.

Plus, once it was explained to him that defaulting would crash the US economy and having that happen would mean the name Trump would be synonymous with short-sighted loser for 100 years, he would back off.

ETA
The biggest problems with a Trump presidency would probably have less to do with policy and executing policy and more to with the imprudent and ill-conceived things he would say when meeting his foreign counterparts.

And Twitter. His handlers would have to be able to edit and delete Tweets.

He kept going bankrupt and his last claim to fame was a 900 million loss

A lot depends on whether the Republicans hold on to Congress. If the Republicans hold on to Congress I would expect:

  • Repeal of the ACA with no replacement and no plan to address the rising health care costs plus a rise in the number of uninsured as well as a return to increasing number of personal bankruptcies due to medical costs
  • Significant reduction in corporate taxes and other taxes without the equivalent cuts in spending so a "yuge" explosion of the national debt
  • Roll back of every regulation (unfortunately if this happens I don't think you will see the effects for years)
  • Appointment of conservative judges who will interpret the constitution through a lens that protects corporate interests and Christian conservatives to the detriment of consumers, workers, and non-Christians
  • A foreign policy with a muscular rhetoric but no cohesive thought or strategy that offends most nations (and a president who can be baited and manipulated)

I think a Republican Congress would counteract a few of Trump's likely positions.
  • It is likely Trump would try and use his presidential power to attack a free press that is critical of his presidency. I do believe the Republican Party would oppose any effort Trump makes to use his presidential powers to inhibit the press.
  • They may try to reign in some of his foreign policy agenda items also and prevent any nepotism with his appointments.

If Democrats gain control of at least the Senate with a Trump president. It will be a politically ugly 4 years with constant attacks and little getting done except severe harm to the US brand internationally.

I think there is lower risk but not insignificant that trump could be impeached for any or all of the following:

  • Using his presidential position to enrich himself and his companies
  • Giving unconstitutional orders to the military
  • Using Executive Departments to attack his political opponents (who could be either Republican or Democrat)

In the end, Trump is a loose cannon who no one can control.
