What we pray for

We might all like that to be true, but it turns out that these 'studies' are just elaborate frauds or poorly designed tests.Independent studies have long found a link between prayer and health or recovery. People who are prayed for — whether they are aware of it or not — tend to have better outcomes than those who are not prayed for.
The other side of this coin is the many who are prayed for and die anyway. - Sometimes gradually and through much suffering. The much-hyped Columbia University prayer study was flawed and suspicious from the start but now has been fatally minted with fraud. The first-named author doesn't respond to inquiries. The "lead" author said he didn't learn of the study until months after it was completed. And now the mysterious third author, indicted by a federal grand jury, has pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit fraud. All his previous studies must now be questioned.

Only GOD-JESUS can answer prayers, even if the answer is NO!

Let's say you are diagnosed with cancer. The prognosis is uncertain, but you must begin treatment immediately.
Now, when people die from such a disease, even though they prayed as did their loved ones, the rationale is often "It was God's will. All part of his plan."
Of course, if the person gets better, God is praised for performing a miracle.
So, shouldn't a good Christian forgo medical treatment and just pray to get better? Surely if God is going to cure you, he shoudn't need medical science to help out. Or is God just a bit player in the process, no more or less relevant than the oncologist who oversees the treatment?
I'm going to guess their aren't many Christians out there who are so convinced of the power of prayer that they will forgo medical treatment and leave their fate in God's hands. (Eros' example being an exception)
How about you Riddick, the guy who started this thread? Would you be so confident in God that you would forgo medical treatment and let God perform a miracle?
Or, am I about to get one of those "it doesn't work that way" lectures?

I read this, and I got the impression that Chick (or his "christian friend") arranged somebody's death for $3000. Anybody else read that into it?
It was like a "subconscious" confession (or whatever the terminology is).

Think of it this way: if God is God, one has to figure he's a fan of bacteria, viruses, cancer, parasites, (etc), having invented them.
You really should read that post again..Kitty Chan said:Ralph
What your saying is all people in AA have the drink removed and children with cancer all die?
