What Should Be Required Political Reading?

Seems the Geneva Conventions and The Universal Declaration of Human Rights should be required reading for a lot of people around here.

"Stolen Valor", was that written by

"B.G. Burkett, a military researcher, was co-chairman of the Texas Vietnam Memorial with President George Bush as Honorary Chairman. Mr. Burkett has been the object of an award-winning segment on ABC's "20/20," as well as much acclaimed articles in Texas Monthly and Reader's Digest. "

I don't know how I could have missed it.

Here are a few more that should be on any skeptic's bookshelf.

'150 Questions for a Guerilla' by Bayo

'Black Like Me' by Griffin

'Man's Search for Meaning' by Frankel

'Pedagogy of the Oppressed' by Freire

'The Rich Get Richer and the Poor Get Prison' by Reiman

'The Media Monopoly' by Bagdikian

'Disposable People' by Bales

And random works by H.L. Menken, Samuel Clemens, and Bertrand Russell.

Oh, and don't forget the Mass Psychology of Facism....William Riech as a insightful looney as opposed to a totally wigged-out, certifieable looney...

Another good political book is 1984 by George Orwell. We can only hope that things don't get this bad; unfortunately, it is becoming clearer that many of the events described in this book, even if not inevitable, are at least within the realm of possibility.

Nah. Orwell was one of the many men of his generation who got brainwashed by marxism as a young man, but eventually became a great critic of it in "1984" and "animal farm" - "Big Brother" for example, was modeled on Stalin. The great communist experiment of the 20th century now survives mostly in only cuba, north korea, and a few american academicians. The credit for that is due to a great many people who fought it steadfastly for decades, mostly americans, and notably Ronald Reagan.

Sorry to disappoint
