Once again, I said that Republicans aren't interested in protecting women's rights, they are interested in the open goal the Democrats have left them on this issue and why the Democrats lost is the subject of this thread

Fact of the matter is that Trumps stopped clock bill does actually protect women - you need to argue why those protections aren't necessary

We have established that a) Republicans have no interest in protecting women and b) Republican polices on the whole fail to protect women, and in fact, actively endanger them.

It remains up to you to square your original claim that Democrats lost the election because they failed to protect women with voters choosing the party that doesn't want to protect women and actively endangers them.

i fee like you’re just saying things to say them. i’ll make it clear, i don’t care about the topic even a tiny amount. i find it to be a tremendous waste of time and endlessly responding to a bunch of bad faith arguments that are occasionally accidentally correct is stupid. if this is the most important thing in america and we’re all doomed if i don’t personally partake in that foolishness, then so be it.

Trump isn't the biggest problem--Trumpism is. Trumpism is a desire for patriarchal/autocratic rule based on a belief in pseudo-science, conspiracies, and religion (which is why JD referred to Trump as the "opioid of the masses"). And sure, aside from latent sexism, racism etc a large factor in Trump's success was the Dems failure (pointed out by Bernie Sanders and many others) to address wealth inequality and power. But ultimately, the fundamental failure was failing to correct the dumbing down of the electorate, which has become susceptible to mass misinformation and propaganda. To cure that would be no easy task, as evidenced by some on this forum who ought to know how to think critically but who still fall prey to Trumpism.

The fundamental question of Democrats and Republicans running for office has changed since Citizens United. Because campaigns run largely by advertising, the Democrats need to take money from the same lobbyists. And they need to propose compromise laws that do not leave out health insurance, pharma, wall street and all that. There can only be a few Bernies or AOCs from districts that are very sharply blue anyway. Or they have a long term relationship with their voters.

I feel like one of the things the Democrats did wrong was never really step away from the "deplorables" messaging. Based on voter turnout, even a lot of progressives are getting tired of the way johnny karate and others insist on framing things.
