I think Lia Thomas on the winner's podium probably cost the Democrats a lot more votes than they realize. Pushing a male entitlement to cross sex segregation boundaries in sports was a mistake. The Democrats identifying as the party supporting such things is very likely one of the biggest things Democrats did wrong.

Who are the "Democrats" you're referring to? And what offices were they running for? Because you seem to be using "Democrats" as a general catch-all for anyone who places themselves on the left side of the political spectrum and then applying their opinions and actions to all Democrats everywhere.

This is exactly what I'm talking about when I talk about the bad faith premises in this thread. Thank you for providing a perfect example.

But as for what they did wrong during the election, that's pretty easy. They should have at least pretended to care about the issues that all the normal people care about. Democracy, remember? Instead, the Democrats focussed on out-of-touch pie in the sky globalist ideals, like saying that men can get pregnant and we're really all the same and everything's a social construct, and going on about birthing people, and people with penises, LOL, and cracking down on any speech that disagreed.

If you push so aggressively on those two issues (which the vast majority of voters are opposed to), you might not win an election - even if your opponent is Donal Trump.

I'd say it will be fun to see the wheels come off, but I know the brunt of the adverse effects will hit some of the most vulnerable.

And the idea that it's only about illegal immigrantion is laughable on its face. Trump repeatedly made threats about deporting people here legally and of course is now openly defying the Constitution in his effort to strip American citizens of their citizenship. They just want less brown people here, legal status is irrelevant.

The huge challenge that a left wing movement faces is to get its message in front of the people.

The mainstream media is mostly right leaning with even the most left wing outlets being centre left (by US standards - centre right by Western European standards) while the big social media channels are right behind Trump these days.

Perhaps there could be a grassroots movement but I fear that, like the occupy movement, after an initial burst of activity it will simply fizzle out without major channels behind it.
