No we don't. The point is, this is not a criminal court, it is a job interview.
You think that fundamentally changes things? It doesn't. What kind of world do you think will result if we decide that accusations without evidence are enough to keep someone from getting a job? Hell, even if this is limited to only the Supreme Court, do you think anyone will ever get confirmed again if this is the standard?
But of course, you don't actually believe it will become the standard. You think you can use the standard against Trump nominees and then abandon it when Democrats retake power. Who knows, maybe you'll even be right about that.
If you own a jewelry store do you hire the guy whose references say they were never able to prove he stole from them, but they really noticed a lot of loss while he was there? No, you don't.
