I'd like to welcome some of the newer folks and if any of you have questions about use of or navigating the forum, go ahead and ask them here and you'll have an answer (or several) post haste.

Hello everyone! Somewhat a "hello again", as I registered years ago as "Uncinus" when I was anonymously debunking chemtrails on ContrailScience.com using that name. But now I debunk under my real name, Mick West.

I just registered for TAM, and I'm really looking forward to meeting some fellow skeptics and debunkers.

Hello again, Mick West!

Make sure you check out the JREF topic sub-forum where we are beginning to organize extracurricular events during TAM.

Evidence For James Randi

Hi I'm new. I hope I've come to the right place. I'm a bit shaken after gathering 7 months of supernatural activity. I don't fly so the James Randi challenge is out of the question for me, but I am going to try a UK organisation called ASKE. I think I stand a chance, I'd like other peoples opinion. Thanks for reading, flacc.

You are most welcome. Most people here would be thrilled to see actual evidence of anything paranormal. Perhaps you should post what you have on the Million Dollar Challenge thread and we can see what your chances look like.

Hello

My name is Todd and I live in Minnesota, just north of the twin cities. I've not been lurking for too long, but read enough to get me to register.

There are plenty of interesting topics to discuss, so I'm looking forward to participating. Thanks.

Hi adamwho and Northern Lights,

:welcome2

Some lurking already got you a feel for the place then, Todd. Great, so you know some of us already. Now you can jump in and participate, that is even better.
Adam, welcome to our little neck of the woods, you'll fit right in, I guess.

Hi, Todd. My name is Bobbi and I live just north of the Twin Cities. ;)

And west as well. Maple Grove, to be precise, but at the end of the month I relocate to Shoreview. Welcome aboard!

Hi, my name is John and I live in Ann Arbor, Michigan. Just spent the winter studying mysticism and conspiracy theories at a small college on Mount Desert Island in Maine so come at me

Welcome. You sound awfully defensive, though. Why is that? Do you believe we might think you didn't get a good education? ;)

Hi everybody! (You can read that in a Dr Nick voice--if you're into that sort of thing!) At any rate, my user name--which I started using on a different forum on which I am no longer active, is an "internetted up" spelling of "I paddle" as in "I like to paddle my kayak."

I have long been a a fan of James Randi, and in general skeptics, and occasionally delving into and seeing what the latest crank views were on topics like chemtrails, time wave zero, HAARP, flat earth, you-name-it.

Of course 9/11 kookiness was a rich vein of crazy, but somewhere along the line a close relative of mine jumped neck deep into the woo and is a strong and vocal advocate for use of mini nukes to knock down the towers. The watching the craziness stopped being fun. He is fully and vocally committed to his views, and despite having no physics or engineering background, scornfully dismisses standard models of collapse.

I haven't joined this forum to look for new arguments to raise with him--I can do that on my own, as I do have a science and engineering background--but more to simply have a bit of a breathing space wher I can interact with people who aren't just flinging nonsense and full throated bug-eyed denunications.

Welcome to the forum. *Some* people on here are not full of nonsense. All the others are just harmless :)

I hope you can guide your relative back to reality.

Hello,

As you can see, I'm not really new here. I had left the forums in 2009 for personal reasons, when I had the username SilentKnight. Recently, I decided to return to JREF with a fresh start; many things have changed in my life, and I didn't see the harm in creating a new username. It wasn't until after the fact that I realized this was a breach of Rule 7, which created some problems. I immediately contacted the admins, pointing out the mistake I'd made in hopes of getting things sorted out.

Now that things have been settled, I guess it's time for a reintroduction. I'm a disabled writer and student with longtime interests in science, philosophy, world religions, literature, and art. I tend to write fantasy and sci-fi stories, though I do have an appreciation for authors like Joyce. My beliefs fall into the agnostic-atheist spectrum, though I believe in the potential of religion to do a lot of good in the world. I'm an animal lover, gamer, gardener, and part-time poet.

I found myself missing the civil and professional atmosphere at JREF, which has gone a long way towards shaping how I conduct myself online and with others. I can think of many instances when other forumites could have helped me with a particularly difficult topic of study, and how foolish I was to attempt to go it alone. I remember feeling like I was learning something new every day back when I frequented the board, something that was missing once I left.

So with that said, I've got some catching up to do.

Hi Frozenwolf150,

Good to have you back. :welcome3 You do not really need a tour of the premises, I gather, so a heartfelt welcome back into the fold should suffice.

You can settle in for a long read if you have to catch up from way back in 2009!

I'm Crow T R0bot, a fellow MSTie (if the name didn't give it a way), and a friend of Frozenwolf150 above. We both made that MSTing of Loose Change years back and with his recommendation, I figured it was time to join this forum and maybe "learn" some new stuff myself. Look forward to getting to know you all.

Hi Crow T R0bot,

:welcome2 to you as well. If you are a friend of Frozenwolf, you'll be okay.
If I may ask: what is an MSTie?

Femke
