My comprehension of math and physics is so marginal you can't even see it when you look straight at it. Fortunately, there's Community.
 
Hi everybody. I've been hanging around on the Bigfoot Forums trying to have a conversation about the Ketchum DNA study, but after being suspended for a) referring to Ketchum a con-artist for registering her foundation as a for-profit entity and lying about it, and b) pointing out that Immanuel Zelikovsky was basically a creationist, I decided to go where the winds don't blow so strange. Hopefully the folks here are a bit more rational.

Most of them are, but there are a few nutjobs here. Take that JimBenArm fellow, for instance. Only thing he's missing is the foaming at the mouth...

Here's something I wish I'd known when I was a newbie...

If you go to your User Control Panel, it will list all the threads you've posted in (or subscribed to) which have new replies since you visited last.

Here's where you find your User CP (click the drop down button, then "User Control Panel"):

I spent at least a couple of years muddling around trying to remember what threads I'd posted in, until one day noticing them all listed in the User CP. :o

Don't make the same mistake as me!

Orphia Nay is wise. It's the only way I manage to keep up with the various threads I'm following. Also, you can subscribe to a thread so that it appears in your Control Panel, even without posting in it.

At the top of any page of a thread, in the red bar just under the notices, tags and page numbers, you'll find a little thing on the right of the page saying Thread Tools. Click on that, and a drop-down box will appear, allowing you to "Subscribe to this thread". So you can keep track of your favourite threads even if (like me, much of the time) you don't have anything useful to add.

I guess I'm the only old school (old guy) here. On the top right hand sign of any page, you'll see the "Donate to the JREF" black-and-white rectangle. Next to that it says (on my screen). Welcome Foolmewunz. Foolmewunz is a hyper link to my profile (not the User CP). If you click on statistics you can find all threads you've started and all posts you've made. I check my last page or two of posts for anything with something new.

Alternately, if you're looking at a post you just made, just click your name in the post and it gives you options to check your profile or find all posts or send a PM (quoting the message).

The system's designed so that you can do that with the post of any user, not just your own, so for you newbs if you're wondering if the person you're getting ready to argue with is really a Hitler-supporting Holocaust Denier, you can back-check a bunch of their posts before wasting your time on someone who just made a poorly timed/poorly executed joke.

I was not really into explicit skepticism until a family member started making a strange claim some time ago. Since then i have discovered a part of the World anew. I read through much of SBM, Quackwatch, Skeptoid etc. and got myself a copy of that book by Sagan. I have always known most of the humbug to be just that, but i for example did not know just how dangerous chiropractors are. I always thought they were merely a fancy sort of masseuse.

So i registered here to sub to threads and to partake in some light conversation.
My weakness is everything nuclear, especially if it was - as reported by higly secret sources - made in WW2-era Germany. I can add and i know the multiplication table up to three.
