Well, not to put too fine a point on it, me old China, but Australasia is, by definition, exclusive of Asia. The word itself means "to the South of Asia".

Yeah, I was kinda hoping for the unspoken hyphen, e.g. Austral-Asian rather than Australasia, which is some term you guys coined to make your teenie little continent seem larger. (Just kidding - it makes sense, of course as it really is a proper geo-political demarcation. I was just being selfish.)

I don't blame you, mate. I've always thought it remarkable (and disappointing) how few folks we have from Asia in this forum.

Is this a worthwhile question for a thread in Community? It's certainly piqued my curiosity, and I'm betting you have a few possibile answers to offer up. I'll start a thread if you think it's worth it.

Well, I'm sure Wolfman and Wollery have a good slant on the China side, Newgent and AntiqueHunter and Blues Jnr have traveled extensively over here and lived here at times. And then there's a small group in Japan... a couple in Korea... So, yeah, an "Asian Skeptics - Speak Your Piece!" thread could be worthwhile. (If he behaves, we might even let Malfie chime in; just don't make any real estate deals with him.)
 
Bloody Aussies! They are overrunning these boards. Who ever thought it a good idea to connect Australia to the internet? :p ;)

I think if someone like you were to post there regularly, it would definitely be an attraction to other less confident Asian people to participate. I have enjoyed quite a few of your posts already here.:cool:

Hi all :D

My name is Holly. I lurked around the board for a bit before I signed up. Seems like a great place for good conversation. I look forward to jumping in!

I won't bore anyone with a bunch of "about me" facts. I am finishing a degree in Anthropology and Geology. I collect rocks and fossils and consider it my passion. Hmmm..what else...oh, I love to talk, especially online. I don't sleep much so I am online far too much ;)

Can't wait to start meeting people here, you all seem really fascinating and I am glad I stumbled in :)

Beautiful spot, Berowra Waters.

Not too far, as the crow flies, but about 40 min by road. A bit/lot longer on the water, a lot more distance. I'm on the other side of the river. Closer to Wisemans Ferry.

But here is, as you say, really big, so there's lots to get stuck into.

We get a fair few replies to Oz & NZ topics at the ASF, which we don't bother starting here.

Do you think we should start more non-Australasian topics at the ASF? Maybe that's a good idea.

For sure, but first we have to rustle a herd of these JREFers over yonder. No easy thing, by the looks.:D

I was posting for almost six months on ASF, before I became aware of a couple of the mods. I thought WTF? Who's this?
Then I stumble around here and see one has +20,000 posts, and the other has a wad too.

Hello Folks!

Since I received warm greetings in basically every thread I posted so far after delurking and finally getting an account, I thought it to be time to introduce myself here.

Well, short version: I'm a German atheist, biochemist and patent engineer with an additional two semesters of geology studies and a hobby of learning languages - yes, why, my interests are all over the place ;)

Thanks for the warm welcome to everyone I didn't answer in person in the respective threads! Looks like it is going to be fun around here!
