Wow, National Review!! Did Faux News mention them on the air. Again.

Hi-effing-larious. More time? This thing has been cooking for DECADES. What is more time going to produce? More thought? Like the Republican proposal containing NO proposals to solve the problem and NO budget. More debate? Really? This debate was the second-longest in Senate history. The Elephant's idea of debate was requiring bills hundreds of pages long be read aloud....We want more time, more thought, more debate, and all we got is this lousy bill rushed to us like some Tickle Me Elmo we never wanted....
One hardly needs to think the democrats are all on some evil conspiracy to be against the bill. It seems a "road to hell paved with good intentions" bill -- wanting health care for all, which is certainly noble, but not necessarily getting much more than a lot of expenses for worse service, the way the bill is structured.
"The first to do after the revolution is shoot all the lawyers."

Right. Do nothing is a GREAT answer as the USA drowns in debt, paying far, far more for health care while getting poorer outcomes than every other developed country.Relax, it's only going to cost a trillion dollars, it should be payed off by the time of your great-great grandchildren, unless they come up with some more bloated spending... oh wait![]()
Go ahead; and while you're at it be sure to show your readers what the implications of Baucus's savings are:Are we still going around the stupid dept claim? Want the link to the CBO report?
According to CBO, the various tax increases and spending reductions elsewhere in the plan fully offset this increase.
That's on paper. In real life, it won't happen.
A big hunk of the offset, $53 billion, is projected to come from the 35 percent tax Baucus proposes on high-value health insurance plans. Such a tax, however, will completely change the incentives regarding such plans.
Right now, employer-provided health care benefits are deductible to the business and not taxable as income to the individual. So, the incentive is to move as much of compensation into them as possible.
I've seen it. They primarily point to Medicare and Medicaid, the two programs already mismanaged, as being the reason the Federal budget is on an unsustainable path. Solution? Oh I know! Give them another program to mismanage! Are we still going around the stupid dept claim? Want the link to the CBO report?
I'm tired of the answer that doing the wrong thing is better than doing nothing.Right. Do nothing is a GREAT answer as the USA drowns in debt, paying far, far more for health care while getting poorer outcomes than every other developed country.
I guess you have forgotten that Bush did propose a Medicare reform? Maybe it wasn't the best solution, but your philosophy is that doing anything is better than doing nothing, right? The right did absolutely nothing about this problem for the past 8 years. The 8 years prior to that Clinton was hamstrung partly from his own inept handling of health care but mostly from right-wing attacks. Harry and Louise were such a cute couple.
Now, they have offered nothing positive and have explicitly admitted all they are trying to do is cause failure.
When they have something to bring to the table, fine. Till then, kwitcherbitchen.
