Calling these people ignorant implies a lack of knowledge is a source of their views. I would be surprised if there is an argument for interracial marriage they have not heard. They just reject all of them.

Like gender it is a purely social construct based commonly on certain physical traits. Just because it has no biological basis does not mean it is not real enough to impact peoples lives.

Gender is a language construct. Sex in the male/female sense (as opposed to the verb meaning copulation) has a biological basis. The sex with the larger gamate is female.

Well, it is a lot of the time because so many people use them interchangeably. Ideally people would distinguish between the two, but it's very common not to which just makes it that much more confusing. I'm sure that you could, for example, find some fairly educated and authoritative source using "sex" to mean "gender" and "gender" to mean "sex" if you looked for a while.

So I guess what I'm saying is, don't feel bad about not knowing the difference.

Gender IS another word for sex. It just that certain people tried to redefine the word, and get upset when the rest of the world does not play along.

What I meant was that I cannot remember what the local name for Mongolia is. You know, the country sitting between China and Russia? I'm making the assumption that they have their own name for their country, I could be wrong and Mongolia is just the closest westerners can pronounce.

I've never used the term "Mongol" for anything other than a person from Mongolia.

In the time I've spent in Mongolia, Mongolians refer to themselves as Mongolians, and their country as Mongolia. But I don't know if they have their own terms in the Mongolian language.

I wonder what would happen if an interracial child was adopted by an interracial couple, and was given a good education? I bet he'd serve in the US Army, go on to college, and wind up with an advanced degree in theatre. When he's not acting, he'd teach at various universities and wind up marrying a white woman who happened to be a relative of Adolph Eichmann.
