Watching the debate tonight?

I actually watched a bit of today's debate, and it emphasised to me just how sick, deluded and ignorant his supporters are.

Biden spoke well; Trump made up lies and seemed to be having a contest with himself for the biggest lie he could get away with.

Thanks to projection, he was able to come up with some quite good ones.

And people will believe it. Lots of people.

In the debate Trump says he will "come up with a plan" to protect people with pre-existing conditions.

He fought a legal battle to end that protection.

Republicans have been saying for over 10 years that they have a plan to replace the ACA, but have never revealed it.

Republicans had control of the Presidency, House and Senate but had no plan for that or even a plan that they could themselves accept.

Trump promised in 2016 pie-in-the-sky health care and it turned out he had absolutely nothing.

Trump said he would would reveal his health care plan and it was a meaningless Executive Order that was just a wish list to Santa Clause.

He now says he will eliminate Obamacare. Including the legislation that protects people with pre-existing conditions.

He now says he will "come up with a plan" to protect people with pre-existing conditions. He is now even admitting, live on television, that he does not have a plan.

No plan.

He also said he wants to release his tax returns as soon as he's able. He's been "able" to release them at anytime as being audited does not prevent their release. It's just one old lie after another with him. I'm surprised he doesn't burst into flames he lies so much.

Trump needed to make ground, and the only way he could have done that is by Biden making big mistakes.

That didn't happen.

I doubt Trump will be at all pleased with the outcome, and might want to fire some advisers who told him to play by the rules.

...which, to be fair, is quite short compared to Bernie's.

IIRC, it remains true if you just look at the time she's been in the Senate.

There's not much in it between them, as it goes, but Harris is a little to the left. She mostly has the reputation as being not-left-enough-for-the-left-wing because she used to be a prosecutor.

Tonight on stage, you saw a President who has accomplished more in 47 months than the politician on the other side has ever done in 47 years. Outstanding night for President Trump. Four More Years! @realDonaldTrump

President @realDonaldTrump excels at communicating directly to the American people.
Joe Biden communicates to the DC Beltway chattering class.
This was a WIN for Trump & a great final debate for @TeamTrump heading into the final campaign stretch

Senator Rand Paul

I don’t know why @JoeBiden thinks he can continue to lie about this.
He wants to ban fracking and end all fossil fuels like coal too.
Kentucky is watching, and so are many other states. #Debate2020

President Trump was outstanding. I couldn't be prouder. Biden was making faces and was very dishonest about some of his positions.

Trump won this debate, handily. Biden wasn’t a force at all. Trump was substantive, on-point, well-tempered. Definitely helped himself, when it mattered most.

Biden's message tonight at the debate was pretty simple: he'll lock down the entire country, raise taxes, and destroy the U.S. energy industry.

This is not a win for Trump, it’s a complete annihilation.
Biden hasn’t had one good moment and has been crushed on every question. No sane human being thinks otherwise. Biden is not only corrupt, but he’s incompetent too.

Trump won the night on points. But Trump wins tomorrow big when they roll the tape on fracking, oil, Russian disinformation ...

Why I didn't bother watching the debate for more than a minute or two. As explained By David Leonhardt of the New York Times:
[The debate] wasn’t normal because one of the nominees — the sitting president — told one lie after another. He did so about the virus, North Korea, China, Russia, climate change, his own health care policy, Joe Biden’s health care policy, Biden’s finances and the immigrant children who were separated from their parents.

How are voters supposed to choose between, say, two different health care plans if one candidate makes up stories about both plans?

Mrs. newyorkguy and myself will be early voting this Saturday. For Joe Biden.

Didn't watch; already sent in my ballot, so why bother? I knew everything I needed to detest about the mobster, Trump, since before he descended that escalator. What I've learned since I wish I could forget.
