I have procured an advanced transcript of the speech:

We didn't know about 9-11 before it happened.

These are tough times, but we must stay the course in Iraq.

God Bless Americar

Inspiring!

I was thinking (more hoping), it would go like this:

The citizens of United States deserve an honest administration, therefore I've authorized a release of all secret classified info on Area 51, the JFK conspirarcy, and Jimmy Hoffa's whereabouts ....

Charlie (this is too easy) Monoxide

I hope he starts by addressing the fears that there may be subliminable messages in his speech.

This morning on the radio they were questioning whether interrupting American Idol will piss off a large number of people. I suspect it will. Which would be kind of amusing. ;)

Amusing . . . or desperately depressing?

I wonder if Simon would allow Bush or Kerry to move on to the finals in Washington, D.C.

I haven't decided. Everyone says that apathy towards politics is a bad sign, but frankly hearing Bush speak makes my teeth ache (and that's just his delivery), so I'm not so sure. With just how little information is let escape in these press conferences I don't really see the point in watching them most of the time, anyway.

On the other hand, American Idol is an abomination before Dog, and should be torn limb from limb like the hideous plush toy that it is.

;)

Well, I sort of watched it. Didn't notice anything new. Anybody else?

It brings up the British Parliamentary tradition that Australia has inherited, called "Question Time".

It can degenerate into farce, at times, but it does mean that the "Opposition" can ask just about any question they want of the leader of the government.

(The government, in turn, gets one of it's own to ask a "Dorothy Dixer", to which the minister being questioned invariably starts off, as if surprised, to thank the MP asking the question for their interest in such an important area of policy, which just happens to involve attacking the Opposition.

This is Bush's first, live press conference for the year. There is no compulsion on him to face up to tough questioning at all.

I really, really like question time. Frankly I wish we had "Ass whuppin' Time".

I thought GWB came accross like an idiot, frankly. Not in command of his material, vague, all over the lot, monotinous. A bad showing.

The blank look on his face when asked what his biggest mistake was was both amusing and deeply disturbing. Thinking on his feet definately not his strong point. :D

Also liked how he told the reporter he should have submitted the question beforehand. What a joke. :p

The blank look on his face could have been from trying to think of which mistake from the many he has made.

I bet he wishes all he had to face up to was getting busted for having a blow job in the white house from an intern.

I watched the conference. W. showed how inept he really is. He just kept repeating the same catch phrases. Larry King afterwards featured a father/daughter whose son/husband died last week in Iraq. It was sad how much they clung to W's every word as justification for their loved one's death. I couldn't believe anyone would say W. made a good presentation tonight. We are a nation of Spin. This latest charge that Ashcroft made today that the Clinton Administration and particularly Gorelick hampered the investigation of Moussaui just reeks. All they do is point fingers instead of taking some responsibility. What ever happened to The Buck Stops Here? I only hope we wake up and kick Bush's butt out of office. Okay, my rant is over ;)

The more I see and hear Bush, the more evident it is that there is no way he can be in control of anything. Of course, that begs the question of who is.

Be afraid, be very afraid.

Well, I'm a liberal Democrat and not a huge fan of Bush, and even I was shocked at how poorly he did. I expected him to do much better.

I mean, sure, any one of us might have stumbled on some completely out-of-the-blue question in a live press conference. I wouldn't have blamed him for that. But the thing is, he gave sh!tty answers even to the questions he had to know were coming; basic things about Iraq and 9-11. I'm surprised his people didn't prep him better.

One thing I found particularly bizaare was his complete inability to admit that his administration has made any mistakes ever at all! That's an inexcusable blunder for a seasoned politico to make. It makes him look like he's living in a parrallel universe.

Weird. Weird. Weird.

This was a black eye for the administration.

He has a point. Ever been at a job interview where they ask you "what is your greatest weakness" or some BS question like that?

The fact is, you could write a book argueing about what the worst mistake is. The reporter really should be ashamed for trying to play "stump the chief". This is the sad state of the washington press corp. Makes Helen Thomas look like a saint.

Seeing as how were are still in the fog of war so to speak, we might not know what our worst mistakes were for years.

One of the worst showings I have ever seen from Bush.

Hist speech was extremely vague.

He never addressed WMD's, Osama, or anything else outside of Iraq for that matter.
