UK General Election

Ah, OK, so you have passport control on the departure side but not on the arrival side. Now I have to think really hard what I've encountered inside Schengen... could very well be the same.

Actually, flying out of Bristol to Dublin there is passport control on both sides.

Interesting asymmetry. I'm now piqued next time I fly within Schengen what happens. (But most of my flying in Europe has been to the British Isles - there's no point in flying to, say, Paris or Strasbourg - car is faster and more comfortable).

And a second Indy Referendum for Scotland is DOA. The Scots simply did not want to go thorough that again so soon, and the SNP made a big mistake in pushing it so hard. They tried to back down and emphszise other issues in the last couple of weeks, but the damage was done.

This is simply not true. The reality is most Scots think that it's Anna for the Scottish government and support for it was about 50/50.

It's not the size of support for the union that is the issue here but the depth of feeling. It seems hardcore unionists would rather throw the whole country under a bus than let it be independent. Some Labour voters would rather Tory rule than home rule.

The sash wearers will be delighted with the outcome especially with their dup friends getting leverage too.

Quite pathetic really. Own worst enemies..

So with the Tory alliance with the loony nutter DUP's (think, ranting Ian Paisley) can we expect to see Creationist theory replacing Biology in schools, more mother-and-baby homes built, and people like Graham Norton subjected to Oscar Wilde-type trials?

And having a bunch of violent Anti Catholics I a coalition will go over well with the Toris Catholic constituency......

So any Scot who feels that indepdence is not a good idea for Scotland is some kind of loon and traitor?
And as for the depth of feeling, that cuts both ways.
But then, you seem to see the world in terms of black and white.......

Almost every political commentator is saying that the SNP's trying to force a second referendum down people's throat was a major reason for their doing badly yesterday.

Blue and white.

I didn't say what you are putting in my mouth.

A Labour voter voting Tory to make a point about an issue that isn't even being contested is some kind of something though. Loon? Quite possibly.

The bigots and sash wearers who feel more allegiance to northern Ireland than Scotland are some kind of something too.

Of course political commentators and you would know better because you are so much better informed than me.

You do not believe, any more than I believe, that thinking a shoot to kill policy can be dangerous and counter productive is the same thing as being against arming any police.

Right... so he's against the 'shoot to kill' policy but he's not against arming the police. He's anti- shoot-to-kill but pro- shoot-to-give-a-nasty-graze, or maybe pro- shoot-to-make-a-noise-and-scare-the-terrorists. Thanks for clearing that up, I don't know why I didn't see it in the first place.

You can't believe that, so there's no point in my commenting on it.You can't believe that, so there's no point in my commenting on it.

That's a great argument. Instead of addressing the fact you simply tell me I can't possibly believe it. Well done!

No. As I said, there is no passport control when you fly from Dublin to Bristol.

There is no passport control from Amsterdam to Rome there is a simple boarding pass and identification check but you do not go through the border checks in the Shengen area just as you don't if you are flying from the UK to Ireland or vice versa in the CTA

The bigots and sash wearers who feel more allegiance to northern Ireland than Scotland are some kind of something too.

I noticed with astonishment Ruth Davidson's comments decrying Theresa May's pact with the DUP which are the at the very least hypocritical after allowing members of the Orange Order to stand as Tory Councillors in Glasgow. It may be that many people do not understand that in Northern Ireland and in Scotland the DUP and the Orange Order are anti Catholic and in the case of the Orange Order racist as well and that the DUP still have strong links with the paramilitary Protestant terrorist groups in Ireland the UDA http://www.independent.co.uk/voices...on-paramilitaries-peace-process-a7782631.html

Another beautiful irony is that the Tories won't be able to call on their new Scottish MPs and DUPfriends to support them on many issues thanks to their own EVEL policies. Unless like everything else they fitch that principle when it's inconvenient

I mean you're just uttering disparaging propaganda rather than considered political analysis.

What fun May's enemies will now have if they decide to adopt that political tactic.

"Convent girl PM owes everything to people who sing

'No Pope of Rome,
No chapels to sadden my eyes,
No nuns and no priests and no rosary beads,
Every day is the Twelfth of July.'"

And the Twelfth is coming up soon. How the bigots will rejoice as they make their triumphalist marches through Belfast, and Derry ... and Glasgow. Maybe Ruth Davidson and her partner will get the bus to Brigton Cross and join their sash-wearing friends on the Orange Walk. With May in power, every day will indeed be the Twelfth of July for these rascals.

I really don't think May has thought this through.

Oh please, just admit you were wrong. You made all sorts of statements which I proved to be false, then you come back with the same old line that I'm 'uttering disparaging propaganda', something you have no evidence for. Then you try to change the subject and hope I won't notice...

What on earth has a song and a gay pride parade got to do with Corbyn wanting to disarm the police?

For the sake of May's new chums, I hope Corbyn really will go soft on political extremism.

Of course he's soft on extremism. In that way he's consistent, just like me, although my consistency lies in criticising all extremists, whether DUP or leftist or Islamist, whilst Corbyn's lies with making friends with them.

You consistently criticise "friends of the DUP"? What about criticising people who give the DUP the power to make or break the UK government? We'll see how consistent you are about that.
