If enough people are stupid enough to vote for UKIP then of course they should be represented in parliament. Would still make them ***** though.

To suggest otherwise is the epitome of democracy is great when i agree with it.

Mind you I don't expect much better from the poster I see you quoting.

Well in that case at least the UK government would have been more honest about its EU goals. However, of course under PR there may well have been more parties and the impact of this on all current parties vote would have to be factored in.
 
Well, Mrs Don and I voted. The polling station was empty of voters when we arrived but I suspect most of the village voted by 9 am when they went to the local shop.

Someone arrived with two dogs while we were inside but as I didn't have my phone, I missed a "dogs outside polling station" photo-op.

Are people actually assuming that everyone would vote the same way under PR as they do under FPTP?

Hard to tell but from my reading of the post I answered to it seems so to me I could well be wrong though. Of course under the first election under PR there could well be a similar outcome as it might take time for politics to adjust e.g. voting patterns, party structure etc., who knows?

We know something like 10-20% of people vote tactically in elections right now. Under PR they would have no reason to. And that's without considering any more fundamental changes that might take place.

True, but that's more likely to have affected the composition of the opposition's vote. I can't see that there was much tactical Tory/UKIP support voting at the last election although maybe my biases are impacting my analysis of that bit. And admittedly a number of commentators claim a large bit of UKIP's last vote was a protest vote which may have gone elsewhere under PR.

UKIP is part of the opposition vote and no doubt people voted tactically or as protest for them as you say

Still thank god FPTP prevented them getting MPs or we might be facing a messy hard Brexit an immigration clampdown and a reduction in human rights protections.

Yes you're right of course. For some reason I have a tendency to merge the Tories and UKIP together in my mind.

Well I've gone and voted and the station was very busy (for around here) and had a chuckle about my next MP* and his address not being in his constituency.

*Tory as it will always be.
 
Yes I've voted as well now and managed to avoid the roving gangs of Tory canvassers. The joys of living in the tories 23rd target seat.

That's not going to go down well with the Re-elect-May-ners.

I saw that the head of Survation was predicting this earlier.
