TSA to allow knives on planes

Pppfft. The last time I ate meat on a plane it was so tough I could have thrown it through a window. No need for knives or cues, just threaten to suck people out the windows by launching your lunch through one.

box cutters are knives and although technically lockable, in my experience, the lock is generally not very good, and they are certainly small

Not when you spend 20 bucks on one. Some are as strong as a good Buck Knife.

I get bumped up to business and first class once in a while. The meals are decent and yes, they have real knives. Not a proper steak knife, but a serrated butter knife. They dropped the plastic stuff a couple of years ago.

September 11th was successful because of the element of surprise. I doubt any group could pull it off again. I don't think any passengers or flight attendants would sit quietly and do nothing.

I would think cross check before swinging.

I played lacrosse. Without the fear of penalties and against someone not wearing pads and a helmet, I could do some serious damage in several different ways. Let's not forget, most people don't wear cups everyday either!

Maybe at a distance. Last night as I was waiting for my ride at O'Hare a guy went trotting out the door with two golf clubs (per new regulation). A driver or wood could mess you up real bad.

The logic is plain and can't be argued against. The best way to stop a bad guy on a plane with a knife is to have a good guy on a plane with a knife.

Makes me wish I were a good guy sometimes.
