So what is stopping Canada from declaring Lake America back to Lack Ontario?

Lake Ontario remains Lake Ontario throughout Canada, and throughout the entire world, outside of governmental offices located within the country immediately to its south. Even there, the renaming will be undone if and when sanity returns to that country's government.

There's nothing to stop Canada from declaring that country's name to be the United States of Asininity, aside from the fact that Canada is too classy to stoop to Trump's level.

US (and non-US) corporations won't invest in Venezuelan oil because it might get nationalised again.
US (and US non-US) corporations may be sanctioned if they are engaged in business to do with Venezuelan oil.
If Venezuela gives Trump / the US some of its oil rights such that they become majority owned by US government then companies will be more willing to invest. The US will make money from selling the oil it was given for free by Venezuela after Venezuela entered into negotiations with the secretary of War (the normal person you negotiate trade deals with?).
Venezuela will benefit from trickle down as the US (and non-US?) oil company investments will provide some local employment and provide a local boost to the economy.

It will be interesting to see to what extent oil companies extracting US oil in Venezuela will be subject to local laws or if the US will insist on exemptions from local employment law, environmental law, and potentially things like import duties, immigation control for workers etc.

If investment is based on off shore reserves it potentially gives greater possibility to view the area as US territory , with absolute US authority, but minimal benefit for Venezuela.
