Trump's Second Term

An American Oil Company is preparing to a new field in Greenland, despite having been refused permission by the Government of Greenland. The owner is a member of Trump's inner circle. This could be an new crisis.

The real reason why Trump and Bessent are scared of higher interest rates:

TL: DR: this administration decided to do all deficit financing through the shortest, lowest interest rate bonds that run just for a year, instead of staggering it in short, medium and long-term bonds.
The result is that the money for current deficit plus the next one will have to raised at the same, and probably at higher cost.

German energy company RWE has said it will abandon its offshore wind projects in the US after reaching a $1.2bn (£892m) payout deal with President Donald Trump's Department of the Interior (DoI).

RWE said that it will now reinvest the sum into conventional gas projects, including $900m (£669m) in a liquefied natural gas (LNG) export terminal project in Louisiana.

"After careful consideration, it was determined there is no path forward to permit these projects in the US for the foreseeable future," the company said in a statement.

IOW, "The Trump admin made it impossible to proceed at all, but strangely more profitable for us to not do anything else in the USA. We are just going to pretend we will invest in gas, because that ◊◊◊◊ is dying or dead technology now. We think the local oil billionaires may have had a hand in this deal..."

I don't know who this is, unless he's just mocking random Americans now

A couple of things:

- you would hope that a large (competent) multinational company would recognize that they republicans are unlikely to maintain the presidency past 2028, and as such would avoid making decisions that benefit them in the short term but could backfire if/when the democrats gain power again and decide to invest in alternative energy again. (And hopefully future democratic administration is will remember that companies like RWE are untrustworthy actors in the energy business and make decisions appropriately)

- anyone notice this is perhaps the worst possible situation for American consumers? They lose the generating capacity the wind farm would have provided (increasing electricity prices), and by creating a LNG export facility they are making it easier for gas to be exported (making fossil fuels pricier in the US)

How did those trucks get up there, and if they're for refueling, wouldn't it be easier to have an underground tank with a pump? Also, why are these soldiers standing there at attention? Was this designed by a nine-year-old?
