Trump's Second Term

Trump is claiming this why the Ballroom is needed, so convenient if not fake.

The shooter didn't succeed in getting into the room, let alone taking a shot at Trump, so the security arrangements proved adequate despite how astonishingly slow on the uptake the guards were. So it's actually further evidence that the ballroom is not needed.

According to LBC's US correspondent Simon Marx, who's attended other similar events at the venue, it's usual for the magnetometers to be outside in the driveway so no-one could even get into the building without being security checked.

All far too convenient: Trump attends an event he doesn't really want to, shots fired but nobody hurt "assassination attempt" five minutes in, Trump hustled out, Trump tries to act heroic, Trump tries to promote his billion-dollar, griftathon, white elephant "solution" that is now less popular than a fart in a space suit. Not even very imaginative.

The alleged gunman who fired shots at the White House Correspondents' Dinner a few hours ago has been named as Cole Tomas Allen, according to US media.

The 31-year-old is reportedly from Torrance, California - in the south-western suburbs of Los Angeles.

CBS News, the BBC's US partner, says Allen worked as a tutor in Torrance after graduating from the highly regarded California Institute of Technology.

Police say he was a guest at the Washington Hilton hotel, where the dinner was taking place, and was carrying multiple weapons - including guns and knives.

He's planning on never leaving the White House ever.

@POTUS: It's not a particularly secure building, and I didn't want to say this, but this is why we have to have all of the attributes of what we're planning at the White House. It's drone proof, it's bulletproof glass. That's why Secret Service and the military are demanding it.

The whole thing seems strange.

Why did he decide to go this year when he's never bothered before and hates everyone that does go?
