Trump's Second Term

View attachment 69638

Someone posted this and several people, including me, referenced Eccentrica Gallumbits,

Which led someone else to attribute a Zaphod Beeblebrox quote to Trump, and to be honest, it fits perfectly.

“If there's anything more important than my ego around, I want it caught and shot now.”

Obviously my response was that Zaphod Beeblebrox was utterly unrealistic, because the idea of someone so vapid and vain getting elected as President of the galaxy was laughable.

Somebody's cat is seriously screwing up.

Sorry, I don't have a clue what it's really called, or how it's done, and that's why I asked.
Indeed, I don't think @Resume was criticising you, more answering your question about the ease with a rhetorical question.

My understanding is that until quite recently at least, sea mines are still often destroyed by gunfire on the surface

Doesn't Iran know, because this would certainly be like shooting themselves in the foot if this whacko move by the fat clown ends soon, especially if they can't find their own bombs?
Realistically right now they have more urgent concerns, one of which is trying to see that this ends not entirely on the fat clown's terms.

GPS will make it relatively easy to record where the mines were initially placed and after this war is over there will be many countries with an interest in volunteering specialist effort in making the straits safe again.

How many bot accounts did they pay to get that number?

When the entire movie project exists as a supplicant offering of cash and flattery from Bezos to Trump, do you even need a bot army to fool Amazon into claiming this Amazon movie, showing on Amazon TV, is Amazon's number 1?

I do wonder about the "worldwide" bit though. That's like Kim in North Korea getting 18 holes in one every time he plays golf. It's a bit "Of course we're lying. What part do you not get?"

MELANIA, the film // NUMBER ONE
I am grateful to everyone who took the time to watch my new film, MELANIA, on Amazon Prime this week.

Seeing my film hit the Number One position also reflects the passion & commitment of my extraordinary team.

For those watching this weekend - Enjoy!

I actually got a lot of pleasure from the MELANIA film, not by watching it obviously, but the Mark Kermode review of it has been a highlight of the year so far.

"The president’s job - and if someone sufficiently vain and stupid is picked he won’t realise this - is not to wield power, but to draw attention away from it."

That would be the case for “moored” or “surface” mines.

I watched a YouTube video on mines and there’s a second type that would be more problematic. From Gemini…

2. Bottom Mines (Influence Mines)
These are more technologically advanced and sit directly on the seabed.
• How they work: Because they rest on the floor, they can carry much larger explosive charges (up to 2,000+ lbs) than floating mines.
• Activation: These are influence mines, meaning they don't need physical contact. They use sensors to detect a ship’s "signature," such as:
• Magnetic: Changes in the Earth's magnetic field caused by a large steel hull.
• Acoustic: The specific sound frequency of a ship's engines or propellers.
• Pressure: The displacement of water as a massive vessel passes overhead.
• Strategic Use: They are extremely difficult to detect with sonar because they can be buried in silt or look like natural debris on the ocean floor.

I realise I don't know how deep the waters of the strait are, and that matters because influence mines lying on the bottom are only really effective in shallow water where a ship passes a few metres overhead. They're the type of weapon that got dropped in shipping lanes in estuaries rather than out at sea.

I realize that, but my original post was wondering how insane Iran is for shooting themselves in the foot by mining waters they use.

Not that the fat clown hasn't also been really sane for starting this war to begin with and without any real game plan to boot.

It's scary when two insane entities (the fat clown and Iran) go at each other.

I realize that, and I didn't take it as such.

Like I just posted, war is hell to begin with, but It's just extra scary when it's two insane entities (the fat clown and Iran) going at each other.

If they're gonna mine their own waters, what other insane crap are they going to do, and how far will the crazy, fat clown go to show how cowardly tough he is.

Gemini: “The depth generally ranges between 60 and 100 meters (roughly 200 to 330 feet) throughout the main shipping channels.”

not since WW2 when the mines were buoyant and held in position by a cable with a weight on the end. The ship streamed cables with paravanes on the end to snag the mine's anchor cable and cut it.

Most mines are on the seabed and are activated by sound or magnetism.
Old fashioned tethered, buoyant mines aren't much of a thing any longer although they do still exist.
The mine countermeasures ship hunts for them with high definition sonar and magnetic anomaly detectors.
When they are found a remote operated submersible vehicle attaches an explosive charge and blows them up.
Sometimes a clearance diver will do thr job depending on the type of mine and it's location.

How a paravane works

You would be surprised how deep they can be laid.

The reason for underwater mines is that most ships nowadays are actually rather resistant to hull damage coming from the side.
But hit them from the bottom and you "break their spine" so to speak and cause damage that can only be fixed in a Dry Dock, if at all.

Although Trump is a notorious cheapskate and swindler I don't think he'd tolerate America being seen to be unable to host a world event on his watch. It has to be at least adequate so he can brag it was the best ever.
He'll just blame the local cities and towns, they're the ones that have to do all the work after all.
Donald trump operates in a world of "alternative facts".

Even if the world cup is a disaster, playing in front of half-empty stadiums, and losing millions of dollars, Trump will still claim the games were a "success, best ever".

He will also claim simultaneously that the games were a failure that were caused by "radical leftist leaders in Democrat-run cities".

That Trump will be stating completely contradictory statements (that the games were both a success and a failure) will be ignored by his MAGAchud supporters.
