Off topic, I know, but one thing I learned a long time ago was that we should've been helping North Vietnam, but since Russia was behind them, it became a war against communism, but that's just my opinion.

For those interested an analysis of the attack on the Iranian school. It appears as if this school may have been associated at some point with Iranian military, it is next to a military clinic and social centre. I don't know if US military bases have schools and medical centres and social centres? Would the US place family housing and schools on a military base to provide human shields?

To enable oil to keep flowing into the global market, the Treasury Department is issuing a temporary 30-day waiver to allow Indian refiners to purchase Russian oil. This deliberately short-term measure will not provide significant financial benefit to the Russian government as it only authorizes transactions involving oil already stranded at sea.

India is an essential partner of the United States, and we fully anticipate that New Delhi will ramp up purchases of U.S. oil. This stop-gap measure will alleviate pressure caused by Iran’s attempt to take global energy hostage

There are a couple questions there. For the first question, though - Yes, there are apparently a number of schools in military bases. Yes, family members of military personnel may be housed on base. Yes, there are medical centers in military bases. I'm not sure what you're including as social centers, though, so I cannot really answer that.

For the latter - a military base is a legitimate military target, which makes those in it and very close to it potential legitimate collateral damage if there's an attack, even if they're civilians. Though there are civilians there, the purpose of family housing and schools on a military base are not to provide human shields, but rather as noncombat support for the military personnel.

Now, going to the darker side of things, it's entirely plausible that the shameless criminal Republicans of the Trump Administration would effectively turn civilians into human shields, yes, but that's not why family housing and schools on military bases have existed. That doesn't mean that such won't change in the future, but it's not how it's been.
