Trump's Second Term

Don't you people constantly talk down about Muslims when defending atrocities towards them because of how often Muslims are the victims of violence by other Muslims?
Are you saying that Muslims do in fact regularly kill other Muslims? And that Andrew Tate as a Muslim wanting to kill other Muslims would just be part of that pattern?

Yes, murder victims are usually in proximity to their killers. That's how that sort of thing works. Its like how most Christians are killed by other Christians.

I could give a damn about Andrew Tate. He probably never left his house for fear of being arrested again. You people just love your big displays of toughguyness. But, whatever faith he is proclaiming this week doesn't seem to play a role in what ways he decides to sink lower.

Noem is out
Markwayne Mullin is in at DHS, pending confirmation
From the looks of his policies on Wikipedia, he seems to be a pretty extreme wingnut. (Against ALL abortion, stolen election claims, voted against the Violence against Women act.)

I guess the question is, will he be visible evil (like Noem), or quiet evil.

ETA: And I do wonder what his motivation is in taking the post. As a republican senator from a deep red state, he could have served for decades. In Trump's cabinet? At BEST he would last until 2028/2029. (And that's assuming Trump doesn't fire him before his term ends, or dies and his replacement appoints an all new cabinet.)

Follow the money. Secretary of HS has a much bigger budget authority than a Senator does, with the opportunity to dole contracts out to his friends, creditors and family. That’s why Kristi is crying into Corey’s shoulder right now.

Federal prosecutors in U.S. Attorney Jeanine Pirro's office are dropping a criminal probe into whether former President Joe Biden and his aides unlawfully used an autopen to issue pardons, a person briefed on the matter told CBS News.

Two sources confirmed the existence of the probe, with one telling CBS News that the matter has since been closed because prosecutors were never able to find a legal hook to be able to pursue the matter further. CBS News has not determined precisely when the case ended.

The Department of Homeland Security tapped a little-known ad firm to produce Kristi Noem’s multimillion-dollar ad campaign during the government shutdown last year. But when asked to explain her rationale before a House Oversight Committee hearing Wednesday, Noem was practically speechless.

Reading off a DHS notice, Colorado Representative Joe Neguse noted that the department had identified just four companies “out of the hundreds of thousands of companies in the United States” as potential hires for the campaign.

“One of those is this Safe America Media Company. Where is Safe America Media headquartered?” asked Colorado Representative Joe Neguse.

“I don’t know,” Noem replied.

DHS paid Safe America Media $143 million in no-bid contracts between February and August 2025 to produce a slate of anti-immigrant ads for ICE Barbie. Months later, ProPublica reported that it was unlikely Safe America Media, which was formed just eight days before it won the DHS contract, would have been able to handle a nine-figure government contract.

There I was congratulating myself on not being taken in by an Onion headline...

Sadly, for a while now, the right has been working to make satire pointless.

I'll eagerly await whatever asinine reasoning you come up with to defend Trump this time. I don't know why you guys can't just admit he says dumb ◊◊◊◊ and he's lying. Why is that?

To hazard a guess, it hasn't changed much all along. The Republican Party was very publicly well aware that Trump was horrendously bad before he gained the nomination due to all the Republicans rebelling against the more normal constant corruption and evil of the Republican Party that was just dressed up a little to create a facade of respectability. After the nomination, things changed a bit. It's not that many of them don't still think he's bad, it's just that they don't want to face accountability or consequences for their horrific, deeply harmful choices. It's understandable that they don't want to take responsibility for all the blood on their selfish hands, though.

Here is our new nominee threatening the President of the Teamsters Union. Bernie has to remind him that he’s a Senator.

Hegseth: "We have only just begun to fight and fight decisively. If you think you've seen something, just wait. The amount of combat power that's still flowing, that's still coming, that we'll be able to project over Iran is multiples of what it is right now when you add up our capabilities and those of Israel."
