I'm quite confident about that, for multiple reasons. One, it's already happened, so it's not an escalation for it to keep happening. Two, the US doesn't have to pay for it. And three, we might even make money off it as countries which donate US planes to Ukraine may buy planes from the US to replace the ones in Ukraine.
The idea that Trump is in Putin's pocket has always been nonsense. His hesitancy to support the war isn't due to any actual sympathy to Putin, but simply a desire to not spend American resources on that war. I don't think I've ever heard him discouraging other countries from supporting Ukraine. In fact, he seems to be trying to push Europe to do exactly that.
Again, if they can't, why not? If they don't have the production capacity for Ukraine to fight Russia, then they don't have the production capacity to defend themselves against Russia. And that's a big ◊◊◊◊◊◊◊ problem that they need to solve.
I am completely at a loss as to why the extreme right wing MAGA-cult continually looks at maps, and see huge swaths of land and think that somehow matters. They think it matters in democratic elections, they think it matters in geopolitics, and they seem to always think it matters when determining military strength and productivity.
I have no idea how many times I have to continually tell them:
Trees do not vote!
Trees do not fight wars!
Trees do not produce weapons, ammunition, or build infrastructure!
Europe has a bit less than 4 times the population of Russia! Europe is far more wealthy and far more productive. They are productive, not just simply because they have 400 million in population, but also PER CAPITA. A single European can produce more than a single Russian can. Europe also has superior technologies, and higher-quality products.
Another thing MAGA constantly does, going against reality, is to do the exact opposite of what should be done in order to save money and resources. They don't believe in "investments" which gives an even bigger return than what was previously spent. Which is why they don;t understand why trade imbalances can actually be good. American factories and warehouses, for example, will buy products and resources from other countries. On paper, that looks bad to the MAGA mind. In reality, that represents growth. American products are superior to Chinese products. Sure, we may purchase machine tools and raw resources from China. But 5 - 10 years down the road, Ford, or Chevy, or Dewalt, or Craftsman....what have you... will themselves, produce a lot of superior-quality machines, tools, clothing, etc, and turn a profit! But tariffs on foreign steel, plastics, or other resources will EAT INTO those profits!
There's a reason the United States was on top of the world but falling quickly fall every time we put an even worse, even further right wing chud into office starting with Reagan. Facts and evidence matter. Not "opinions." If your "opinion" is that eating nothing chocolate cake is good for you because you think chocolate cake tastes good, ignoring or denying the FACT that it isn't..... Your health is going to very quickly deteriorate.
Facts. Matter!
Just because you think that it is expensive now for us to supply Ukraine to fight against Russia, and withdrawing support is good for us, doesn't mean that it is. As long as Russia is occupied in this war, they are NOT fighting another war elsewhere, damaging yet another country. Or trying to attack NATO. By not allowing them to easily win this war, is far more damaging to them, than it is to Europe or North America. In other words, it's an investment now, to keep a dangerous nation contained so we don't have a complete mess down the road in 10 or 20 years from now.
The more Russia insists on continuing this mess, the harder and longer it will be for them to recover. And the older Putin gets. No. Putin isn't getting any younger. He's 73 years old. And there doesn't seem to be an effective extreme right wing successor that will be able to continue holding the line of rightwing Russian politics. There's Medvedev, but he's certainly no Putin.
