Trump's Second Term

God, I detest that piece of crap. I can't think of a person I've detested more in my 70 years. That he was elected once is bad but a second time? Makes me hang my head in shame. Nov. 2024 only cemented my belief that most people have ++++ for brains.
A lot of them do, for sure. But from my interactions with friends and family who went MAGA, some of them simply got conned. You can be pretty smart and still be conned, hence the importance of skeptical training (cue patriotic music in background)
I think if we can be hyper vigilant and protect the integrity of the elections, 2026 midterms will see an historical turnout, it will be a purging of stupidity in government. I would have liked to see that in TN yesterday, but the 10 point swing in the other direction was still a sign of things to come. Keep hope alive! :giggle:

Can anyone interpret what grandpa is trying to say here with "You're not allowed to build them"? Is he saying Japan and Korea don't want US cars because they're too big and US auto companies couldn't build tiny cars for export because they needed US government permission?
The tiny cars in question almost certainly do not meet US safety and emission standards. It's possible to import them privately but you cannot register them, and the exporters are unlikely to try to make them US compatible because it would cost too much for too little profit, and diminish their practicality. And, of course, you could build one here if you wanted, but no US manufacturer is likely to do so under current regulations. Of course if Trump manages to gut safety regulations, we could get back to the good old days of Isettas and Dafs and Messerschmitts, which were once available here, and our short memories no doubt forget why they failed.

With the relaxation of import requirements, it is possible to import some of the older "Kei" cars from Japan, and similar things, and I see little Kei trucks used for local campus transport, for example, at Middlebury College. Vehicles over 25 years old are exempt from Federal restrictions. You still can't register little kei cars in every state (not in Vermont, for example), and some states have varying restrictions.

It is quite likely a fault of mine, but I try to credit others with some sort of honesty. In some cases no doubt this may do them no favor, but one must presume that a person of some intelligence posts on purpose, at least when sober and not visibly joking, and therefore every post, in some existential sense, means what it says, even if the path meanders a bit.

Oh, he just bruised his hand punching America's enemies. Like, umm, Lex Luthor. One punch, out cold. And those monsters from Pacific Rim. Bam. Out cold. Invaders from Mars. Invaders from Somalia. Bam! Bam! 110 hours a week. Nobody can keep up with him.
Actually I have a different theory...

He bruised his hand punching people in his cabinet during one of his bad-news meltdowns. After all, they are all submissive to him that they probably welcomed the attention he was giving them.

Old man is old. Progressives lose their minds, because it's not their old man.
Ummm.... no. People are "losing their mind" because
1) Trump's age-related issues appear to be much much more serious than Biden's ever was (especially his loss of mental faculties)
2) There is no significant pushback by the republican party against Trump, to say "there is a problem here"

Yes, Biden was old. But his brain wasn't the mush that Trump's currently is (as Biden could still show periods of decent mental competence), and when it became apparent to Democrats that maybe Biden wasn't fit to serve a second time there was talk of removing him.

On the other hand, Trump accuses Biden of being a time travelling wizard, wanders off in the middle of an official signing, and regularly makes comments indicating he "doesn't know what's going on'. Yet where are the republican calls to invoke the 25th?

The bruise was on the back of his hand. You don't punch people with the back of your hand. You do, however, get a cannular there.

It's just an ongoing series of medical... umm... tests his doctors are conducting because he's so amazingly healthy. They're trying, with increasing desperation, to discover what his secret is which allows him to be so indestructibly healthy and to ace test after test. Pay no heed to their grave looks and worried glances. All is well. Better than well. The best. May the Great Leader live forever! Which he will!

YOU don't. But you are probably aware of the difference between the front and back of your hand, and you probably don't look at your hand with a sense of novelty, several times every day

Yeah but Trump is a moron, and probably doesn't even know the proper way to punch someone.

Roger, have you been doing lines of coke with Don Jr? Are you living in a different reality?

For one alone, Trumpy doesn't "run" round any golf courses, never has. He drives, then waddles a few feet from the cart to to the ball (that his flunkies conveniently toss to favourable positions). He barely accumulates 100 yards in 18 holes. It's all on tape.

Clearly you have some "secrets" they are using to hold you hostage. You sure sound like you have a gun to your head.

To the point that me habitually drives onto the greens, an offence that would get you barred if you didn't only play at clubs you own.
