Trump's Second Term

What is Johnson's game?

Is he somehow hoping that by delaying the swearing in of Adelita Grijalva (who he's also accusing of not doing her job in representing her constituents) he can indefinitely postpone the release of the Epstein files or that they will drop out of the news?
He is just obeying orders, there doesn't have to be any logic behind it. Presumably Trump is busy directing people to scrub any incriminating info from the files, and that takes time, cause there's a lot of them.

Giving people as much time as possible to talk about why he won't swear her in and maybe place bets on it isn't going to make the Epstein files drop out of the news.

It's not just the politicians. I've maintained communication with a handful of friends who are now MAGA, and they are lockstep in the same mentality. I need to "grow a spine" and "lighten up" cause it is just a "joke"

Hmm. Really, the big deal is not whether it's funny (or flops because it's punching down which is unfunny unless you're a psychopath.)

Most of us would get reprimanded for using our work email to share jokes. Here is a communication from the president of the United States of America, and it looks exactly like something from Idiocracy.

He's debasing the dignity of his office. Nothing any of his critics say does a fraction of the damage he inflicts by himself on the presidency. He's a national embarrassment.

Ironically- Idiocracy, the US President (President Dwayne Elizondo Mountain Dew Camacho) is almost a caricature of trump- but remember that Idiocracy was made long before trump even considered running for President....
And worse- he in comparison seems a MORE sensible president than trump has turned out to be...
:jaw-dropp
I mean, Dwayne only used his office to hawk his sponsors merchandise...

trump would never do... oh....

Well he would never have armed military patrolling the streets while insulting the US public like Dwayne did...

Oh wait...

Sighs- there is no hope.....

ok, now he's literally destroying the white house lol
That's the British army's job!

I don't mind the notion of Presidents renovating the White House. Pres. Truman essentially gutted the White House and made it what we see today. The East Wing as we know it today was built in the 1940s, kind of like the House of Commons was restored after the wartime bombing. It's not as if your tour of the White House is showing you the way it was when it was first built. What I object to is Pres. Trump trying to replace a historic building (even if it's only 80 years of history) with his gaudy, tasteless hotel style.

If it was in the UK it would have Grade 1 listed building status at the very least, and anyone just tearing into a national monument like that with a digger, because they imagined they were the tyrant king and didn't need anyone's agreement, would be in court before their feet touched the ground.

I mean, I recognise that anyone British has a bit of a cheek disapproving of someone damaging the White House but <shrug> I'm surprised if a president can just decide to do that on his own whim, when he publicly stated he wouldn't touch the existing structure of the building.

People abroad have the idea we are falling apart. Maybe we are. The president is tearing down the White House and 7 million protested his acts. Yet here, on the edge of the prairie in a city of 300 000 many people noticed nothing. "The price of coffee went up. Let's get the 20 dollar can from Costco next time." We don't make much of anything, so material supply problems of industry do little to jobs here. My major decision at Costco this morning: do I get blueberries now that the three berry mix is out? Looking around the corner there was this. 4 berry mix. As far as Trump, I have yet to see ICE arrests or much anything much from the federal gov't.

Perhaps he's just commemorating the 111th anniversary of the last time it was destroyed.
