Trump's Second Term

Rosenberg: Yeah, I mean, I think that there are two things that are happening simultaneously that we have to keep in our minds. One is that Trump is doing incredible harm to the country and breaking things that are going to be difficult, if not impossible, to repair. And we must act with incredible vigor to mitigate the damage and to win back power.

But the second thing that’s happening, and that’s equally important, is that he’s in physical, cognitive, and political decline, and that he’s growing, I think, ever more distant from the American people. He’s struggling to rally even his own voters behind major parts of his agenda. And as a political project, he’s failing.
And I think, to some degree, Greg—if I can just say—these two things are related. I think the further, the more there’s a perception that his government and his political project have failed, it’s encouraging them—or encouraging greater escalation toward authoritarianism. And that because they’re growing to believe that winning the elections, staying in power through winning the elections next year, is starting to become difficult, if not impossible … therefore, they’re going to door two—which is greater illiberalism, crushing their opposition.
I call it the vicious cycle of a failing strongman—that the more he fails, the more he grows distant from the public, which encourages him to become more of an illiberal strongman and to crack down on his opposition. And I think that he’s in that dynamic right now. And unfortunately, what it’s doing is accelerating his experimentation with becoming a total autocrat.

What we’re seeing with the “No Kings” protests is the last generation of people who actually believe what the TV tells them.

They’ve been brainwashed so badly over the years, & haven't woken up from that.

Honestly, the whole thing makes me the sad.

Because left-wing boomers shouldn’t be living their golden years in fear—they should rest easy knowing America is in capable hands.

That President Trump is not a king. He’s just an incredible president.

free market healtcare.

Ron Johnson: "Let's bring free market competition back into the healthcare industry. Let's bring back way more consumer choice. Rick Scott, an expert in healthcare, he's working with people like myself and the White House, let's design the Republican plan."

We already know the free market system: insure healthy people under 60. Not anyone else.

Well done Mike

FREE SPEECH is a cherished and protected right in America.

But this weekend we saw the far Left advocate for VIOLENCE against a President who’s survived two assassination attempts, and Democrats aligning with these COMMUNIST groups that REJECT everything America stands for.

It’s time for Democrats to stop the madness!

As opposed to what a politician tells them. On TV.

Though I suppose that it's at least a sort of step up for one of these idiots to halfway acknowledge that the protests (and protesters) were real, not faked and simultaneously paid for- she just thinks the protesters are misinformed.

We've had No Kings (and other large demonstrations) protests in the past (albeit not this large), and there was barely any acknowledgement from the GOP that they happened.

Now its mass hysteria among their membership about it.

I smell flop sweat.

What scares me is, not one Republican differed with the showing of the poop video. Not a single one voiced the standard:

"I support President Trump but in this instance I wish he had not done this. I'm not comfortable with it."

An expression of the normal range of opinion you would expect to find in any large group. But not now. No Republican will criticize or even disagree with trump. They know he doesn't tolerate any dissent and will retaliate viciously. Very scary as to what it says about where we are right now as a nation. Very scary.

Perhaps someone should talk to Susan Collins about it? She may be concerned.

It's depressing. And so utterly ridiculous and childish that it's funny. Until you remember that he is the president if the US, and then it's depressing again.

So the president of the US is a 4-year old, who thinks poop is funny and clever, and any republican who has said the secret nazi part out loud is just a young boy, being a boy, the way boys are, and always will be. So how about letting some actual adults run the country? I hope for some people in frog costumes, and some women in their absolute prime, holdig signs saying "Grantifa".

I don't think anyone in the GOP, much less Trump, actually gives a damn about the protests- they're indulging in some performative and proactive poisoning of the well before next year's midterms so they can claim (at least for their own comfort) that the results, if they go against them, are as equally unreal and non-binding on them or their agenda. If they can pretend now to their own satisfaction that nobody has really said anything against them, they can just as easily pretend then that nobody will have really voted against them- the claims will be that the votes are as faked as the protests.

Sadly it seems that my family and I will be departing the city I’ve called home my entire life. NYC will become a very dangerous place to live in if we elect mayor Mamdani and that is a risk I am unwilling to take now that I want to start growing my family.

Not even elected and already he's reducing the number of criminals in the city. Well done Mamdani!

It's not just the politicians. I've maintained communication with a handful of friends who are now MAGA, and they are lockstep in the same mentality. I need to "grow a spine" and "lighten up" cause it is just a "joke"

None of us outside the cult think it is funny. But social media and the need to protect their worldview has completely obliterated any sense of ethics or morality they once had. They still have some of it--it is buried in there, but identity protection will not allow them to access it.
If we can't agree on an even basic sense of what is right or wrong, we are in trouble. Because there is *no* line to cross when the basics have been thrown out.

I don't know if you saw it, but the video of the protesters tripping and mocking the MAGA dude at the Denver rally is a bit worrisome. Sure, he was asking for trouble and got it, and sure, it was an isolated thing in an otherwise very peaceful day of protests--but I wonder if this is going to escalate quickly. Because once people lose their sense of right or wrong, it's game over. Even with my once-sane friends, I could see them turning to violence. There's no lack of historical precedence.

No pardon for Diddy

Trump on pardoning Diddy: "Probably -- hmm. You know, I was very friendly with him. I get along with him great. Seemed like a nice guy. I didn't know him well. But when I ran for office, he was very hostile."

Because, yanno, those are the two of the three real criteria for who should get a presidential pardon:
2) does the president get along with them?
3) were they ever hostile to the president?

(oh, you know full well what the 1st and most important criterion is)

What is Johnson's game?

Is he somehow hoping that by delaying the swearing in of Adelita Grijalva (who he's also accusing of not doing her job in representing her constituents) he can indefinitely postpone the release of the Epstein files or that they will drop out of the news?

He's blown Trump ever helping him out again:

First and foremost, I want to thank our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, for never abandoning me. I’m far from perfect.

Not giving Trump precedence is a cardinal sin.
