I doubt it. The rest of the world has known that the US would diminish for some time and has been strengthening ties with Europe ans Asia.

Sure, but it's not like we can influence what happens in the US anyway, so seeing the self-righteousness of US exeptionalism taken down is at least cold comfort. Maybe if your prophesied civil war breaks out US citizens will later be less likely to promote war in other countries.
Then again, maybe we'll all be radioactive dust because the US decided to elect this criminal.
This has always been my objection to nuclear weapons (which people like you tend to do away as pacifism). The moment an insane person gets their hand on the trigger, like Trump or Putin should his regime collapse, they can end the world.
Whereas if the US were to just burn itself down the economic hit would be significant, but something that could be weathered in a few years time.

You must understand that we non-USAians watch this unfolding with a mix of horror and fascination. I don't see anybody showed Schadenfreude at all, but there is some feeling that after having been told so long that your checks and balances would prevent the coming catastrophe, but now you are actually just like everybody else. We do not want to see the U.S. collapse. What we want is to make everything return to when the U.S. at least officially was the good guys, never mind that it was not ever so since WWII.

But it is absolutely fascinating to watch fascism take over a country in real time. Last time it happened, nobody had a roadmap that showed the end target, but this time, we know. We watch history unfolding in the most important change of history, after the fall of the Soviet Union, and we know what will happen, but we can't do anything about it, but brace ourselves for the era of dictators.

I have a very good friend, Chilean, who has spend the last 40 years touring conflicts zones all over the world as a delegate for the international Red Cross. He is one of the few South Americans I know who doesn't automatically blame the USA for every problem in the World, despite spending time in Iraq, Afghanistan, and several months in Guantanamo.

He called me the other day, furious against someone who was telling him about the situation in the US, complaining that that person was certainly exaggerating because he has faith in the solidity of the USA's institutions, checks and balance, etc. He was particularly outraged upon hearing that visiting the US and speaking Spanish in the street with some of his latino friends might attract unwanted and unpleasant attention from the ICE thugs …

I showed him the available informations on this forum and elsewhere, and there was also something on French TV about ICE operations yesterday night. He's floored, appalled, horrified …
