But: Don’t call us Nazis!!!
"Don't you woke virtue signalling globalist communist groomers understand that it's toxic and polarizing when you keep calling people names like that?!"

The big question I have in all of these types of rulings is... How are the Trump bootlickers on the court going to reverse themselves if/when a Democrat becomes president again.
If a Democrat becomes President again, the Ridiculous Six will just ignore any precedents that they have set. I mean, just take a look at Biden vs Nebraska compared to McMahon vs New York. In Nebraska, the SCOTUS said that Biden could not cancel student loans, even though the plain text of existing law said he could. In McMahon, SCOTUS allowed Trump to fire over a thousand Department of Education employees, even though the law said he could not. How did they justify the difference? They didn't justify it at all, it was put on the Shadow docket and Trump was given the win with no actual reasoning provided.

Conservatives have a 6-3 edge on our unelected Super Legislature. They used to at least try to provide pseudo-legal reasoning for their partisan decisions, but if they can get a case on the Shadow Docket, they don't have to do even that.
Yeah the shadow docket may come into play.

Alternatively, they could give a "no ruling" ruling. Something like "We cannot at this time determine if the Democratic president can do something, but we will hold off ruling at this time until the damage is done and the issue becomes mot."

(I think they have done this with some of Trump's actions... Lower courts rule "trump cannot do something, supreme court says they won't rule on it now, but sticks it on their agenda for later decision.)

The scariest thing isn't that Miller made a nazi-like speech.

The scary thing is that the "onlookers" who recognized it were not actually republican observers.... They were people who probably recognized the fascist leanings of the Trump administration for a while now. Meanwhile, the people who were actually at the "rally" probably saw absolutely nothing wrong with the Miller speech.

*tariffs may go up or down, past tariff is not indicative of future tariff.

It was the Lehigh Valley Railroad and the sabotage was in the summer of 1916 at a rail yard in Jersey City, NJ. Seven people were killed and there was upwards of $20 million in damage. That would be over $500 million in today's dollars. In 1953 West Germany agreed to pay the $20 million damage award with interest.

Bugger me!

I've just heard bits of Trump's "speech" (I should say, incoherent, lying rambling, cloaked in self-pitying whining)...

Absolutely ◊◊◊◊◊◊◊ awful (as in baaaaaaaaaaaaad, rather than filling me with awe).

I could not recognise a sensible thing in any of it: huge amounts of undiscovered oil off Aberdeen?

Looks like I picked a bad week to give up sniffing glue!

So what's new?

Ah. Now it makes sense. I couldn't understand the "pre-WW1" bit.

It was pre-WW1 for the US, but definitely not for Germany.

Trump upbraids U.N. in speech, claiming ‘your countries are going to hell’

NEW YORK — President Donald Trump on Tuesday questioned the purpose of the United Nations in a blistering takedown of the organization before world leaders, blasting its support for refugees and calling its effort to reduce global warming a “con job.”

In the soaring hall where Trump was once met by laughter from fellow world leaders in his first term, few were chuckling at the General Assembly on Tuesday as the president condemned many of the institution’s internationalist ideals in especially strong terms.

The U.S. president took aim at global consensus on key issues including climate change, blasting the issue as a tool wielded to take advantage of the United States. He declared his opposition to immigration to both the United States and Europe from poorer nations in stark terms, claiming that without swift action on immigration, “your countries are going to hell.” And he called to protect Christianity, which he claimed is “the most persecuted religion on the planet today.”

In a winding address that hopped across hot-button issues — including a long-held grievance over the organization’s rejection of his bid to renovate its headquarters — the president said that the United Nations was failing its mission and working against the core issues that he believes delivered him to office.

“Proud nations must be allowed to protect their communities and prevent their societies from being overwhelmed by people they have never seen before, with different customs, religions, with different everything,” Trump said in the nearly hour-long speech, which touched on peace efforts in Gaza and Ukraine and returned repeatedly to his domestic political agenda.

I half expected that he would demand that the U.N. hold a memorial for Horst Wessel Charlie Kirk.

“Proud nations must be allowed to protect their communities and prevent their societies from being overwhelmed by people they have never seen before, with different customs, religions, with different everything,”

What next? Did the U.S. delegation light tiki torches and start chanting "You will not replace us"?
