Trump's Second Term

Whew! Don't go there. The Emmys are supposed to be a real hot button issue with trump, given The Apprentice never winning an Emmy despite being nominated. Remember the 2016 debate?

It has also been noted how strange it seems for the president of the United States to have this preoccupation with late night TV show hosts. He talks about them endlessly. Late night TV show hosts?

I think it is generally agreed that trump is the worst president in US history. How about the dumbest, the dumbest president in US history?

Hey, donnie boy, a two-fer!

He's obsessed with them because he wants to be them, funny, articulate, the centre of attention, surrounded by the beautiful, interesting people, it what he wants to be but can't manage. That's why instead if competent people he's surrounded with D-listers from Fox News and 'celebrities' like RFK Jr, they're the best he can get. And if he can't be Stephen Colbert or Jimmy Kimmel, no one gets be.

It's so funny and weird to hear them demonised in these terms when in any other Western country the Dems would be seen as a centre right party.

I guess we should be glad the scare words are still political terms rather than literally calling them demons.

**cough**

That takes me back to a Republican friend of mine arguing that "fair" news coverage meant 50% positive coverage and 50% negative coverage. That certain Republicans getting so much negative coverage was proof about how biased the media is. I don't think I really need to point out how very deeply wrong that stance is here.

Does he work for the BBC?

Not in this case. I mean yes, but not this time. RFK is currently focused on Tylenol (aka paracetamol or acetaminophen) taken during pregnancy.
Which I'm guessing most mothers of autistic children have done (along with most other mothers too).

You'd think even a brainworm would understand correlation is not causation.

As Steve Novella wrote (link in the RFKJr thread) there is a small, non-significant correlation which disappears when you analyse the data correctly. But that's all that's required in legal discovery, because discovery isn't about analysis of the data, it's about searching through documentation for information that supports your case.

It'll be interesting to see what sort of evidence they offer and how they select it. I very much hope it gets the proper scientific pushback.

I suppose it's a relatively harmless bit of quackery compared to what might have been. (One shudders to imagine.) A benign-ish natural experiment results, where a whole country stops taking paracetomol and uses aspirin and ibuprofen instead. And Trump gets to crow he has defeated autism at a stroke, and it will all be forgotten in a few years when it turns out nothing has actually changed.

Does he think cruise ships are running drugs? Would he sink one if he did?
Did he get the idea from the Houthis?

Trump: You don’t even find a fishing boat, you don’t even find cruise liners anymore. There’s nothing in the water near Venezuela. It’s actually strange. You know what that means? That means there are no drugs coming in.Reporter: You said that the price they’ll pay will be incalculable if they don’t take people back. What does that mean?Trump: Well, you’re going to have to figure that out.

Trump: Everybody is cheering the soldiers.

@PhilNvestigates: Cheering what soldiers? As a Tennessee journalist who has been monitoring these developments, I can tell you the Guard has not yet been deployed!

That's a thing of rare beauty. "And are these 'soldiers' here in Memphis with us now, sir?"

Not that harmless, aspirin is linked to Reye's syndrome in children. Combined with the war on vaccinations against conditions commonly associated with its onset, an increase in the use of aspirin is likely to lead to unfortunate results …

The funeral is Trump's start of 2026 election rallies.
He will spend money he has collected from MAGA for the rallies in 2026, starting early in the year. He will need to make space for his local candidates in the state that the rally is in, which is convenient, since he cannot do hour long speeches week after week. It takes hours to prepare him these days.
