One wonders why there's litter to pick up if there's no more crime. You'd think littering would be the easiest thing to stop, and thus the first thing to go.

Sounds as if he might consider a person convicted of fraud to be unfit for public office. I wonder if he thinks so.

No particular reason I'm asking. Just, you know, generally curious. About convicted felons and high office.

I remain curious about how federalised National Guard deployments get compensated. Do employers just have to take the loss while their staff are absent, or do they receive compensation? Do the guards get paid time off from their employer, or paid by their state, or paid by Uncle Sam?

I'm just curious about whose money and time is being wasted.

There's a reason why the TV Tropes page "They Changed It, Now It Sucks" is as massive as it is. Some people want the things they know to stay the same forever. Any change to something they've known for a long time feels like a direct attack on them. They want the comfort and reassurance of stasis.
To borrow part of a quote from Futurama, "unexpected things frighten them".
