Trump's Second Term

The commentators did ask one of their talking heads about the salutes. Only the commander at the front of the group salutes -- the soldiers in formation do "Eyes Left", as is standard in a Pass in Review. (I did know that.) But they didn't address my own question as to why some in the tanks saluted while others in the same tanks did not, and seemed to be pointedly ignoring The POSOTUS.

Well since the suspect was apparently a Tim Walz appointee, I am sure they are busy trying to spin this as being all the fault of the Dems.
That's the current right-wing claim, sure. An analysis that's a bit deeper shows that that claim is rather misleading, though.

Right-wing media manufactures false connections in Minnesota shooting
A companion Minnesota law fleshes out the board's makeup but also incorporates the mandates of the federal statute, instructing that a majority of members must be business owners or executives; business representatives; or "individuals nominated by state business organizations and business trade associations."

It's that last category into which Boelter fell. Boelter was originally named to Minnesota's board by Gov. Mark Dayton, Walz's predecessor, for a two-year term starting in June of 2016. Walz reappointed Boelter for three more years at the end of 2019, along with 17 others. A Walz press release announcing the appointments identified Boelter as a "Business & Industry Representative."

As Yeargain notes, when Boelter rejoined the board, he was just one of 60 members on the panel.
In short, the claim that he's a Walz appointee may be technically true, but it's extremely disingenuous to try to tie him closely to Walz with a connection like that. One out of many carryover Business & Industry Representatives on an advisory board, one who is there at the behest of other organizations, is hardly someone with close ties to Walz.

Of far more direct note to the man's political affiliations -
The Post also notes deep in its article that Boelter "last registered to vote in 2004, as a Republican."
Yup. Upholding the overwhelming trend of the political murder people being Republican.

It all seemed very low energy with call outs to sponsors and rock music.

Contrast with the Trooping of the Colour earlier in the day.
Now, that's a parade.

I would think it's the officer commanding a platoon that salutes, ot all the tank commanders in the platoon. It might even be the company commander, zi don't know the exact protocol in the US Army.

Any members attending a 'No Kings' protest today, I wish you a great, fun, but most of all safe day. Go stick it to Taco Bellend!

Drove over 2 hours each way to take part in the “No Kings” protest in Nashville, TN, the state capitol.

Huge, peaceful and friendly crowd in what is a VERY red state. This photo shows not even half of those attending.

Yeah, if you're gonna have something like that, you should at least make it look like you're celebrating with a bit of pagaentry and colour.

Trump's parade looked more like a parody of a totalitarian regime mixed with Starship Troopers. Tanks and missiles driven through the streets by soldiers in combat gear as opposed to ceremonial gear, and people like Vance saying, "Yeah, we'll kick the hell out of the enemy!"
