Trump's Second Term

Just don't let anybody on Wall Street repeat that, or else Trump might get mad and do something stupid to harm the economy. And like some abused spouse, it will be somebody else's fault for making him do it, and that will be perfectly normal.
Oppose Trump. Don't provoke him. Otherwise he's going to think he has to do something even more stupid to prove he's the most powerful man in the world.

Oppose Trump. Don't provoke him.
Meaningless distinction. Any opposition to Trump *will* provoke him. Any criticism of Trump will provoke him. Any ridicule of Trump will provoke him. Praising somebody else will provoke him. Ignoring him too long will provoke him. Anything other than fawning attention and unstinting praise of Trump will provoke him.

Avoiding provoking Trump should not be a thing, and I will never suggest making it one. Any stupid decisions Trump makes are on Trump for being stupid.

6th of January wasn't enough of a warning for you? He's capable of anything when he's mad enough. Oppose his actions but don't challenge his self image. Putin has got a long way doing that.

6th of January wasn't enough of a warning for *you*? Yielding to and normalizing the Trump cult of personality will not make us safe; it will enable his worst excesses and have the opposite effect.

As I said earlier, this is ultimately a distinction without a difference, anyway. Trump can and will construe any opposition as a challenge to his self-image, because part of that self-image is universal deference and admiration; anything short of that is an unacceptable provocation.

That actually means Trump's Damn Stupid, but the fat clown and his maga weirdoes got that wrong too, but then again, they're too stupid to understand anything unless it's a lie anyway...
A Republican friend of mine had been under the impression that Trump Derangement Syndrome was describing MAGA, in short. The supporters whose support is deranged.

Thinking about this more, your point is even worse than I first realized. Do you remember what the "provocation" was that triggered January 6? The American people voting against Trump! How the hell are we to oppose Trump if voting against him is too dangerous of a challenge to his self-image?

I'm not saying it was a provocation that anyone was responsible for. I'm saying what Trump is capable of.

Nobody is questioning what Trump is capable of. We all know he's willing and able to be completely destructive.

We are pointing out that he will engage in destructive behavior regardless of whether people are provoking him, "mildly" opposing him, ignoring him, or even agreeing with him (but not agreeing with him strongly enough.)

Madman in the White House says factories are closing and there is unrest in China so he has saved them from grave economic danger.
Anyone tell China they were in grave economic danger? No? Because this would seem to be news there.

Oh, that's right. Gaslighting is a real thing in Trumpland.

Land of the free requiring social media vetting for students...

It's wokeness gone mad, I tell you!
There may not be a lawful way to punish college students generally for failing to adhere to Trump ideological purity but you can arbitrarily revoke visas for the overseas students. So make out they're the problem and punish them because their loss impoverishes the universities both financially and socially. Do all possible harm. Have no shame. Have no scruples.

Court says Trump can't impose his tariffs, next court says he can until a higher court decides, and Trump still in a huff about the first court raises steel tariffs, which not coincidentally are covered under existing legislation so the courts can't block them. If anyone still thinks there some coherent scheme being conducted by shadowy figures behind the scenes you are fooling yourself. There is only chaos and the mood swings of a mentally impaired old man at work here.

He was only going to raise them to 40% but the steel people asked for 50% apparently.

Probably with tears in their eyes sir.

With tears in their eyes.

I said to the group, 'Would you rather have a 40% increase?' Because I was thinking about 40 when I came. I said, 'Would you rather have a 40% or a 50%?' They said, 'Well take 50!' ... so congratulations."
