Trump's Second Term

I think that the President is a grown man with a responsibility to act statesmanlike, and I refuse to normalize his apparent inability to do so. I have to wonder why somebody would vote for him in spite of realizing that he will never do this.
It's almost like you're more concerned about scoring rhetorical points against imagined Trump voters, than assessing any real risk from his presidency.

Anyway, do you believe there's a real risk that Trump might do something drastic and destructive, in knee jerk reaction to the widely publicized "TACO" investment strategy?

You just got through suggesting that Trump could be easily goaded into making drastically stupid decisions liable to harm the economy. How is this not a "real risk from his presidency?"

And yes, knowing that he is like this raises the question: why would you vote for him if you knew this about him? How is this the lesser evil?

See what I mean? You keep trying to make this about what you imagine I am, rather than what is supposedly (but not really) your real concern about Trump's second term.

What image of you do I have that you object to?

Also: "(but not really)"? Who is engaging in flights of imagination about who the other person is? Who is making assumptions about whose motives? No, I can assure you that my concerns about the impact of Trump's actions on the market, and the economy generally, are quite real. Are yours?

I suppose it's up to you to make up your mind: Do you think we're in a situation where the nation's investment banking industry is possibly goading the head of state into imprudent decisions just to prove them wrong?

If you don't, great. We can breathe a sigh of relief. Wall Street and the president can both carry on.

If do, then mocking me for calling it out is a pretty irrational and willfully ignorant response. Why so unserious? Do you not believe the danger is real?
Are you ◊◊◊◊◊◊◊ kidding?

You really think we should not tease the Fascist in Chief?

Wow. If he's that sensitive maybe you shouldn't have voted for him.

This website keeps track of the number of estimated deaths from US aid cutoff to people in the U.S. and other countries. They claim that over 300,000 people worldwide have died because of U.S. aid cuts, and several millions more have suffered. They claim that by the end of 2025 there will be about 1 million deaths worldwide.

I do not know how accurate these claims are.

Trump: "We're creating a special Trump account for every newborn child, starting them off with a $1,000 credit to be invested over the course of their life. A little baby is born, they're gonna start off with $1,000 ... they have a chance to be very rich. It's gonna be very cute to see. We're gonna follow it very closely."

I'm guessing this program will end when it's discovered how many non-white babies are gonna get rich.

I'm sure it will be paid in his soon-to-be-worthless crypto.

That actually means Trump's Damn Stupid,
Just don't let anybody on Wall Street repeat that, or else Trump might get mad and do something stupid to harm the economy. And like some abused spouse, it will be somebody else's fault for making him do it, and that will be perfectly normal.

Are they up or are they down?

Well today they are up again.

He's putting tariffs on aluminium and steel to 50%

President Donald Trump has announced the US will double its current tariff rate on steel and aluminium imports from 25% to 50%, starting on Wednesday.

Speaking at a rally in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Trump said the move would help boost the local steel industry and national supply, while decreasing reliance on China.

Trump also said that $14bn would be invested into the area's steel production through a partnership between US Steel and Japan's Nippon Steel. Details on the partnership are still unclear and both companies have yet to confirm a deal.
