I think the Mayor and members of congress where there for some political reasons. However, they are valid, political reasons. Raising awareness of irregular and potentially illegal things that the Trump Regime/ICE is doing is not wrong. Arresting people for political reasons IS wrong. The mayor and congress people were not doing anything illegal or wrong.

The 1/6/21 Insurrectionists deserved the criminal penalties they received and Trump should have also been held criminally liable...AND....
.....ONLY members of Congress have the right & authority to visit and explore the ICE facility in Newark without notice, everyone else should have left immediately as soon as ICE requested they leave, or be arrested. The Mayor of Newark clearly engaged in a not-so-clever publicity stunt to get attention for his election campaign for Governor and ICE had the authority to arrest him for trespassing as soon as he refused to leave the facility upon first request.

Trespassing is illegal. Even if you do it for a public stunt like to get attention for your candidacy for Governor.

Clearly being concerned about violations of people rights is not something anyone honnestly cares about, it is just a message they are sending.

Now the issue if insufficient hygiene standards for the detainees?

Regardless, Mayor has no authority to inspect a reconstructed building unannounced. He's not a King. But of course he's running for Governor and his poll numbers are kinda pathetic, so hmmmm....
