They have to keep amping up the fear so they can maintain the illusion that anyone with slightly darker skin who is here illegally is a dangerous criminal.

The thing about due process is that it's the foundational doctrine to the rule of law. You can't dispense with due process and still say you are a government of laws and not of people. Selectively suspending due process for any reason (up to and including the excuse that you're just rounding up too many people to care about being careful) threatens the rule of law for everyone.

As has been pointed out upthread in the linked testimony, no classified information was leaked, the use of an unsecure commercial app to share information isn't problematical and the inclusion of a reporter in the chat room was deliberate and part of a game of elebenty-D chess.

There simply is no case to answer and so no need for forum conservatives to address any of this.

Hillary Clinton having a private email server or wanting to use her Blackberry OTOH........

And back in the real world, battle plans and force assignments are still Controlled Unclassified Information and not to be discussed over unsecured channels. And I love the part where Sec. Hegseth says it never happened, where others say it happened but Goldberg is lying about it, and still others say Goldberg was invited and everyone knew he was there. They didn't coordinate over which version of "Nothing to see here" they were going to go with.

Maybe registered Democrats should wear some kind of symbol on their clothes so they don't get mistaken for normal people who aren't crazed radical leftists.

Come to think of it, wasn't Trump senior a Democrat back in the '90s?

Good one, but I fear this adminisration will bury this under a raft of bull ◊◊◊◊, and have every confidence the "legacy" media will let them.
 
I think this may have been mentioned above, but today The POSOTUS will likely do something really insane, to take this out of the news cycle. (But how would that be different from most other days?)

As you say - he doesn't need to plan to do something that grabs the attention, it comes naturally to him!
