Why couldn't it be real? Did you actually believe the anti-immigrant rhetorical posturing?

Of some note, there already is something similar in action. Citizenship By Investment is a thing. EB-5 does have restrictions, though, like being able to prove the source of the funding.
 
Just to be semi-serious for a moment, is the gold card idea subject to any qualifying criteria other than confirming payment? Are there disqualifying criteria on war criminals and drug barons, or will it just exclude trans people and anyone who hasn't bought a Tesla?
 
The US passport is singularly unattractive for the wealthy cosmopolites as long as they don't have an outstanding warrant from The Hague against them: the US tax code makes all your incomes globally subject to US taxation.
So this is pretty much a non-starter, unless Trump can throw in a "does count as eligibility to become President" clause.

Realising this is satire, there's only one thing wrong with the video: It will be bereft of people. Instead, it will look like the world Wall-E cleans up after.

I'm sure that video is what's playing in Trump's head, but I can't believe he'd post anything quite so cringeworthy online. I mean Poe's law and all that but it looks so clearly like mocking parody that it's hard to imagine it isn't.
