Trump's Second Term

Hehe, just like the Nazi salute that was really just an awkward "My heart goes out to you" gesture executed by a person with Asperger's or some other ASD variant. Never mind all the other pro-Nazi stuff that seems to have also been similarly misunderstood. How strangely coincidental that actor José Eduardo Verástegui gave the same salute with the same "My heart goes out to you" phrase, despite not being able to invoke the excuse of being awkward and on the autism spectrum.

You don't have to look too deeply into neo-Nazi symbology to discover how much of it is really trying to look innocuous while still sending the message. "My heart—Sieg heil!—goes out to you," is apparently just the latest way to disguise the salute for polite company.
My intent was to analogise to the swastika, but yeah.

This is a woman with more cajones than the entire Republican Congress. She called out Trump on the floor of the House over his Ukraine stance and the US joining Russia, Belarus and N. Korea in not condemning Russia.
(entire video of 1 min. speech in link)

Russia invaded the sovereign nation of Ukraine. That is the cold, hard truth of it," Rep. Becca Balint (D-VT) said Monday. “Vladimir Putin is the aggressor, and I stand here on the House floor to say our president will not re-write the past.”

Balint in her speech went on to rail against Putin for “mercilessly” continuing the deadly war for over three years before turning her focus to domestic politics and airing her grievances with her Republican colleagues and President Donald Trump.
“It’s sick. We are standing with dictators and against our allies?” Balint asked. “I never thought I would see the day when our president would be a puppet for a dictator.”
“To my Republican colleagues, did you ever imagine that you would be in a party that stands on the side of dictators… Aren't you embarrassed by what you've become? It's revolting to watch my colleagues side with Russia because Trump said so.”

They're not embarrassed because they're gutless, spineless cowards.

If only the Obama and Biden administrations had studied the problem, made a plan, and carried it out.

There's only so many votes you can get, with "please be patient; maybe some future Democrat government will do it properly."
The point that was made was, basically, "If they actually wanted to do what they pretend to want to do, here's an excellent example of how they should be doing it. What they're doing is nothing like that." I'd add that what they're actually doing strongly points to far more nefarious goals. With that reiterated, there's an issue with demanding solutions to things that haven't actually been demonstrated to be either a or the problem, which is a notable problem with how you've chosen to respond here.

As has also been noted repeatedly, the actual problem at hand when it comes to the debt issue is the Republican Party's Two Santa Clauses strategy, not that the federal government has employees. Don't like the way that I said that latter bit? Stop attacking Democrats over Republicans having adopted the betrayal of our country as long standing political strategy and aiding and abetting said betrayal of our country and I'll take objections a little more seriously. The Party of "Personal Responsibility" seems to never be able to actually take responsibility for the problems they've actively caused, after all, and my patience on the subject is increasingly frequently gone.

Could be about entrapping child porn owners
From what I can see, it is some chatrooms where LGBT staff discuss LGBT topics. So Rufo and Tulsi have decided this is disgusting and want to fire everyone. I guess the flimsy pretext for this is that they did it on company time. But it is pretty obvious that it is out of disgust with LGBT people.

Rufo has some transcripts of redacted conversations which is of some trans people talking about operations they had and what they wear etc...

It seems pretty harmless to me. I don't buy for one minute that the outrage comes from them upset about discussing this at work.

Funnily enough, the replies to Gabbard's posts are that this stuff is not important. What's important is releasing the JFK files, the Epstein files, finding out about the UAPs, ignoring Elon Musk's demand to know what five things people did at work last week.

Or... that this is very important and that those who are involved must be named and shamed and hauled before TV cameras, etc...

I think the people who have found themselves in power will now have to realize that they are the dogs who caught the car. They rode in a wave of extremist rabid reactionary weirdos, somewhat bolstered by people who were upset about the price of eggs. And now they will find that the eggs are not going to go down, and much of the extremist crap that they were feeding to their slavering fans turned out to be exaggerated or completely false, so they won't be able to satisfy their voters.

Now, the next step, of course, is just to claim that the deep state goes deeper which is why they can't find proof of who shot JFK and where the aliens are hidden....

Memo from the White House: Suspension of Security Clearances and Evaluation of Government Contracts [link]
President Donald Trump said:
I hereby direct the Attorney General and all other relevant heads of executive departments and agencies (agencies) to immediately take steps consistent with applicable law to suspend any active security clearances held by Peter Koski and all members, partners, and employees of Covington & Burling LLP who assisted former Special Counsel Jack Smith during his time as Special Counsel, pending a review and determination of their roles and responsibilities, if any, in the weaponization of the judicial process. I also direct the Attorney General and heads of agencies to take such actions as are necessary to terminate any engagement of Covington & Burling LLP by any agency to the maximum extent permitted by law and consistent with the memorandum that shall be issued by the Director of the Office of Management and Budget.
So investigating illegal activities is now a "weaponization of the judicial process."

Executive Order issued February 25: Making America Healthy Again by Empowering Patients with Clear, Accurate, and Actionable Healthcare Pricing Information [link]
President Donald Trump said:
Fulfilling the Promise of Radical Transparency. The Secretary of the Treasury, the Secretary of Labor, and the Secretary of Health and Human Services shall take all necessary and appropriate action to rapidly implement and enforce the healthcare price transparency regulations issued pursuant to Executive Order 13877, including, within 90 days of the date of this order, action to:
(a) require the disclosure of the actual prices of items and services, not estimates;
(b) issue updated guidance or proposed regulatory action ensuring pricing information is standardized and easily comparable across hospitals and health plans; and
(c) issue guidance or proposed regulatory action updating enforcement policies designed to ensure compliance with the transparent reporting of complete, accurate, and meaningful data.
For the moment I've marked this as a positive move. I'll downgrade it if one or two people show there is some sort of hidden agenda behind this order.

Could someone explain what this is?

I'm going to label this as a negative, based on the assumption the firings are politically motivated. These groups were internal to the FBI and used only by FBI employees. I'll re-score the action as "neutral" if it can be shown the chat groups were lurid and pornographic in nature as opposed to simply sharing information about nature of LGTBQ+ people.

As of the close of the day on February 25, my positive/negative score on the Trump administration stands at -187.

25 February 2025
+1: Executive Order: Making America Healthy Again by Empowering Patients with Clear, Accurate, and Actionable Healthcare Pricing Information
0: Executive Order: Addressing the Threat to National Security from Imports of Copper (could be a pretext for tariffs)
-1: Trump announces he'll be selling US citizenships for $5 million [54]
-1: Tulsi Gabbard fires 100 people who participated in an internal FBI LGTBQ+ chat group, claiming they were pornographic [55]

References

54. Trump: "We're gonna be selling a gold card. You have a green card, this is a gold card. We're gonna put a price on that card of about $5 million and that's going to give you green card privileges, plus. It's gonna be a route to citizenship, and wealthy people will be coming into our country."

55. Tulsi Gabbard: "This behavior is unacceptable and those involved WILL be held accountable. These disgusting chat groups were immediately shut down when @POTUS issued his EO ending the DEI insanity the Biden Admin was obsessed with. Our IC must be focused on our core mission: ensuring the safety, security, and freedom of the American people."

Ahem. It's actually the Anglo-Saxon rune œþel ("ethel"), meaning inheritance or estate, going back as far as the 5th century CE. Totally innocent. I don't know what everybody's on about.

:oldroll:
I see that you meant to be sarcastic, but I mainly see a star with a text written over a part of it. I find the accidental similarity to the rune rather far-fetched. I really don’t know what everybody’s on about.

It's not the CPAC logo with the star, it's the design of the platform.

Interesting.

Symbol of the Blood & Soil Movement, Hitler Youth, and 7th SS Division Prinz Eugen.
Also used in South Africa by pro apartheid, extreme right wing groups.

Just an unfortunate coincidence I'm sure.

Like the swastika is an ancient Hindu and Buddhist symbol for something or other.
