Trump's Second Term

Shopping for activist judges!!
It's an unconstitutional power grab apparently.

Elon Musk
@elonmusk

What happens is that those who want the government corruption & waste to continue will shop around the country for an activist judge to do their bidding.

It is an undemocratic and unconstitutional power grab by a tiny group of radical leftists!

Stupid question about pennies (cause I'm too lazy to research it): How does this affect pricing? What happens to $1.99? Does it suddenly have to become $1.95? If so, you would think that would lower prices by 4 pennies...which probably would not be popular with merchants. ??

I wouldn't put it past that lying, selfish, fat clown to sign an EO banning the use of cash.

Farmers Hit by USDA Funding Freeze

(NAFB.com) – USDA is withholding funds from farmers for conservation programs, despite the White House stating last week that funds to individuals would not be frozen. Contractors for conservation programs also have been affected by a funding freeze. The Iowa Soybean Association, for instance, cited in a letter to lawmakers that $11 million owed to farmers is at risk. Farmers are learning their conservation payments are frozen because those contracts were funded through the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA). Two federal judges over the past week have ruled that the Trump administration did not have authority to block funding that was appropriated by Congress. At least one Missouri producer posted videos on TikTok worried he could lose his farm because USDA “reneged” on his cost-share contract with NRCS under the Environmental Quality Incentives Program (EQIP).

Obviously this won't work in the US because reasons, but here where the 1c and 2c coins were eliminated, for cash transactions you round to the nearest 5c. So sometimes you underpay, sometimes overpay and it all evens out.

When I lived in Italy, the smallest available coin was 5 lire, and that was comparatively rare. You never saw prices that weren't multiples of 10 lire. All prices were rounded to the nearest 10 lire, which at the time was about 0.75 U.S. cents. While I think it would take some getting used to, it's not out of the question. Since the one-cent coin costs more than one cent to make, this seems logical from a certain perspective. (The 5-lire coin is made of aluminum.)

The Schadenfreude is absolutely amazing. I know, as an American, it'll come back to haunt me at the grocery store, but watching these idiots get blasted by the guy they couldn't wait to get back into office is just outstanding.

We're only a month in and I can't wait to watch this spread. I'm in the midwest too. This is going to ◊◊◊◊ North Dakota as hard as anywhere and I'm going to absolutely love it.

I have my doubts about this, not sure if it's real or a fake. At this point I'm leaning toward "fake." I can't find a reliable source so far, does anyone know more?

Internet Reacts to Golden-Hoofed, Trump Cash-Covered Goat Idol at Mar-a-Lago

A Mar-a-Lago member posted images of a golden-hoofed goat idol on display at Trump’s Mar-a-Lago home.

The idol also has golden horns and is covered in what appears to be $100 Trump novelty bill that say, “In Trump we trust,” replaying God in the phrase “In God we trust” with Trump.

A picture of the novelty $100 Trump used to wrap the goat statue shows the “In Trump we trust” message.

The idol sits on a black base with an American flag on side and has the message, “I love you” along with Trump’s signature. Social media users were quick to react to the bizarre display.

Several people compared it to the biblical story of the Israelites worshipping a golden calf before being rebuked by Moses.

Here we dropped our "cents" completely, with 25 of Czech Koruna for USD we don't really need them. The prices are still in hundredths. It's summed and rounded up before the payment. But we can easily force such thing, being small country. Not sure Trump can do that, and I'm quite sure he doesn't care.

$1.99 gets rounded up to $2.00 here in Australia.

We got rid of our 1 and 2 cent coins many years ago.

This action of Trump's very surprisingly doesn't seem as godawful as anything else getting reported here.

we got rid of the 1/2 penny in 1984 and all the coins were reduced in size in the mid 90s and the 5 and 10 pence coins were swapped from cupro-nickel to nickel plated steel

Yeah, I'm actually neutral on this one. Eventually, inflation will cause the penny to be so worthless that it's an obvious waste of resources to make them. Have we reached that point? I don't know, and I suspect that a plausible case could be made either way. If done properly-

oh, why would I even bother finishing a sentence that started like that?

Here in Canada we use penny rounding:
  • Amounts ending in 1 cent and 2 cents are rounded down to the nearest 10 cents;
  • Amounts ending in 3 cents and 4 cents are rounded up to the nearest 5 cents;
  • Amounts ending in 6 cents and 7 cents are rounded down to the nearest 5 cents;
  • Amounts ending in 8 cents and 9 cents are rounded up to the nearest 10 cents;
  • Amounts ending in 0 cent and 5 cents remain unchanged.

I've thought for a long time that the 1 cent coin should be discontinued. I don't even use or carry them. If they try to give me any pennies in change, I drop them in the donation jar or just tell them to keep them. But even Trump can get something right from time to time.
