Trump's Second Term

Kristi Noem dismisses concerns about the legal rights of Gitmo detainees: "That's just bull. And I just wish they would grow up and really recognize what we're doing here. Of course we're giving due process to migrants... get your priorities straight... I watched a planeload of people unload at Gimo that were pedophiles."

The sanctions on South Africa had two justifications,
1) the appropriation of land from white people to be given to black people which is of course a form of DEI. Although no land has been appropriated and the law is very restrictive on what land can be appropriated. I think this component is either -1 or 0.
2) The fact that it was South Africa that brought the case about Netanyahu to the ICC. This is a purely political and non-factual issue. If you scored sanctioning the ICC as -1 then you should equally score -1 for sanctioning South Africa for bringing the case.
Thanks. Based on your point #2, I've lowered the score -1.

Can we have +2 for Trump refusing to deport Harry and Meghan? Certainly this one statement has swung the UK behind him! (I appreciate this isn't an executive order so doesn't really count.) It is nice to know that occasionally Trump does someone good.

Trump on deporting Harry (over allegation he may have lied on visa application regarding drug use);
I can certainly see why you'd prefer to have Harry living in the States. But if I was to include this line in my listing I'd score it at -1 for the insult to Meghan. That was uncalled for.

The Pentagon just announced that it would double the number of news organizations removed from physical offices to make room for MAGA propaganda media outlets.

OUT: The New York Times, Politico, NPR, The Washington Post, CNN, NBC, The Hill, The War Zone

IN: Breitbart, The New York Post, The Washington Examiner, OAN, Newsmax, HuffPost, The Free Press, The Daily Caller

Old news. That was announced on February 1.

Old news. That was announced on February 1.

Feb 1 saw the removal of four news outlets - that's now old news.
Yesterday sees the removal of four more - that's the new part.

Through Title IX and federal funding, the government essentially is a sports organization. The new rules only apply to sports organizations the government is involved in. And even there, JayUtah is wrong.
Even so. Micromanagement of sports grants seem to me completely unnecessary. It reminds me of how the Taliban would be going about this.

Thanks for this! Media Bias/Fact Check (mediabiasfactcheck.com) rates the four new sources as follows:
  • The Free Press: Right-centre bias, high factual reporting
  • Washington Examiner: right bias, mostly factual reporting
  • The Daily Caller: right bias, mixed factual reporting
  • Newsmax: Questionable source, extreme right bias, low factual reporting
Overall, a mixed bag.

Stop all your complaining.

BREAKING: Trump job approval hits an all time high, 70% say he is keeping his word from the campaign.

JD says judges have no power over the President.

JD Vance
@JDVance

If a judge tried to tell a general how to conduct a military operation, that would be illegal.

If a judge tried to command the attorney general in how to use her discretion as a prosecutor, that's also illegal.

Judges aren't allowed to control the executive's legitimate power.

As of the close of the day on February 8, my positive/negative score on the current administration stands at -91.

8 February 2025
  • -1: Trump rambles on about groceries and misses why eggs are so expensive (avian flu) [17]
  • -1: DOGE kids aged 19, 20, 21 years are interviewing federal officials to determine if they should keep their job [18]
  • -1: Elon Musk claims California schoolchildren are being indoctrinated with DEI, racism, sexism, and communism [19]
  • -1: Four more respected news outlets at the Pentagon replaced with (mostly) right-wing sources [20]
Footnotes:

17. Trump: I hear so much about the word groceries. I used to use groceries a lot on the [campaign] trail. Groceries, sort of an old fashioned word. But groceries is the most accurate word…You take a look at eggs today, the eggs are double, triple, quadruple…

18. Federal employee: "My colleagues are getting 15-minute one-on-one check-ins with 19-, 20-, and 21-year-old college graduates, asking to justify their existence. Supervisors are being told not to tell their staff anything, withhold information, and today we got word that supervisors must now fill out a justification form, and that there's going to be just a 30% rank-and-yank with all staff at my agency. And to top it all off, one of Musk's top lieutenants and his wife and young child have shacked up on the sixth floor of our agency, and are now living there."

19. Musk: "Teachers in California spend their time indoctrinating kids in DEI racism & sexism & communism, instead of teaching them the skills that help them succeed in life. This needs to STOP!"

20. The Washington Post, CNN, The Hill, and The War Zone will be swapped out for the Washington Examiner, Newsmax, The Free Press and the Daily Caller

I re-evaluated two previous items rated at 0 and reduced their score to -1:
  • From January 20, Executive Order 14158 creating the Department of Government Efficiency (-1 because it's a clown show)
  • From February 7, Executive Order "Addressing Egregious Actions of The Republic of South Africa"
I added four items not previously listed:
  • From February 4, -1: Executive Order 14199: US to withdraw from the United Nations Human Rights Council
  • February 4, -1: Executive Order 14199: US cuts funding to the UN Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA)
  • February 5, -1: Attorney General Pam Bondi disbands the FBI’s Foreign Influence Task Force
  • February 7, -1: DOGE employee, 19, had been fired from an earlier internship for giving information to a competitor
And lastly, I removed one item because it appeared to false:

REPORTER: "So to be clear, you’re fine with DOGE collecting Americans' private financial data?"
TRUMP: "Look, if DOGE didn’t do it, somebody else would. That’s the way it works, folks."

National Archivist Colleen Shogan was thanked for her service, meaning that she will probably be fired. Trump has reportedly viewed this agency in a negative light ever since the Mar-a-Lago document scandal. However, "Shogan, 49, was not the archivist at the time the agency was attempting to retrieve boxes of presidential records from Trump’s estate in 2021 and 2022. But Trump has viewed NARA with suspicion since the investigation and has openly described its top staff as complicit in efforts to damage him politically."

Elon accusing Samantha Power, Biden’s ex-USAID chief of corruption and stealing millions of dollars.

🚨EX-USAID CHIEF SAMANTHA POWER’S NET WORTH SKYROCKETS—FROM $6.7M TO $30M ON A $180K SALARY
Samantha Power, Biden’s ex-USAID chief, saw her wealth explode while earning just $180K per year.
Where did the extra $23.3M come from? And all of this in just 3 years! USAID oversees billions in global funding—was she cashing in?
The public deserves answers. Follow the money.
